Would you consider one?

Reading PH website this morning, came across this interesting article.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=19525

I'm sure there will be purists who will criticise Bentley for considering this but I think it would actuall make an awesome road car.

The Audi/VW V12TDi is an incredible unit and is far removed from normal diesels, especially in performance and refinement.

What do you think? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

It's probably the engine the car has been waiting for, mega torque at very low RPM makes for superb "waftablity" and lets face it you don't see many of them doing wheelies away from the lights, even though you certainly see them storming up the motorway. And also most modern diesels have the vibes so well damped out and the taxi rattle so well suppressed that most owners won't even notice it's a diesel until they find they have got passed the first filling station and realised they didn't need to call in to refill the tanks.
I would sooner have the Bentley than the Q7 though. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

In that vein then, the BMW X3/X5/X6's are all Land Rovers as their 4x4 systems were all developed by Land Rover for the Freelander1............................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim - this is quite funny really - the amount of cross over parts between all manufacturers is huge. So many people get hung up with 'their car is better' without realising a huge proportion of the core components are basically the same - get manufactured by the same sub suppliers with the same QC and have almost identical performance. Some manufacturers have specific test requirements but the suppliers just design the components to meet all tests. I personally know of many components that are common between BMW, VW, LandRover, Jaguar, Toyota, Honda and even Scania Lorries Laughing

True true.. did you hear the news of Daimler and Bmw reaching an agreement to share devlopment parts for the new mini, a class and b class models.. Much to the annoyance of the Quandt family.. seems daimler may be going after Bmw now.. Hmm, we're going to be left with 3 major companies across the world, and all the cars will be the same underneath and just pricetags for the bodyshell that goes on top!
