Yesterday I realized through the online notification system of my bank that my credit was used, not by me, in UK.
After a research I found that the "company" that used my card named TOUCHTONE PROJECT HARROGATE was a known fraud.
The card was canceled and a claim was raised against the transaction (luckily it was only 11 pounds)

I was in UK last November and used the card for paying the Hotel, restaurant, bookstore, and Metro tickets.

I am ashamed to say, Diamond, that in the UK cloning credit cards and stealing card details is a boom industry, especially at small petrol stations where either the card reader is rigged or there is a camera over the keypad watching your key strokes and recording your card details. A couple of years ago it was found that even one of the oil majors had had its big filling stations targeted by the card reader scam. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also the latest is that the fraudsters get your details and do a number of small transactions on the card, the kind of things you won't notice too much like a train ticket or mobile phone top-up.... then once they're happy the card works they whack on a big purchase which goes through fine because of the seemingly legit purchases already.

This is how they try to avoid the card suppliers detecting abnormal transactions. Luckily my brother's card supplier was wise to this and rang him straight away after a few of these "minor" purchases were made miles away from where he lived.

Well, good to hear you got your money back.

I had about the same thing a few years ago. I had bought something in a US online store and two months later the same company charged my credit card with some thousand US$!

It was not a big effort to get the money back, just one call to the credit card company. BUT: It took them two months until my credit card company granted the money back which was not really funny because I don't use the American type of card where you pay them like a credit, mine is charged on my bank account with full amount every month and since I was a student that time I would have recognized every Euro missing on my bank account, especially since these were some thousands of them...


On the other hand all these thefts of credit cards of American and Asian companies made my credit card company a bit too suspicios. I have been called a few times now by companies from abroad where I bought something who couldn't charge my credit card since my credit card company thought they were trying to steal money. O2 stopped my mobile phone account in November last year because of "unusual data downloading" on my account....................... very nice of them too as it was me using my newly aqcuired iPhone for the 1st time overseas. Same thing happened to my wife when she did a mobile top up with Vodafone last year Abuser then went on to use the card details for 2 top ups at Carphone Warehouse. Bank spotted it straight away and put a stop to it and refunded. TDV6 - gone

He then proceeded to drain my account for £2700, but naturally being a chav (and brainless) he got the items sent to the address - HIS HOME ADDRESS !!!!! He apparently got arrested and the goods were seized.

Needless to say, I had to fill in a fraud form and they refunded my account in full. I should hasten to add that I had 2 passwords on my account - guess who did not bother with security.........numptie Barclays  L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Barclaycard are real idiots - they always ask you to notify them when you go on holiday.....so I did last year, landed in LA, picjed up the lovely Q7 rentai - and my card was declined. One call later to the UK and they told me I was over my limit because someone had taken 23 transactions from an ATM in Lithuania - so who told them I was in Lithuania?? Especially on the same day, but less the 9 hour time difference, someone had taken out money while I was on the plane....they gave it back to me after a couple of weeks. But gone is the spontaneous side to just jumping on a plane - call your credit card company first!

Well, to go against the grain and actually compliment a Bank/Credit Card company, I got a phone call from my bank (Lloyds TSB) on my mobile phone just before Christmas. They asked me to verify some transactions that had taken place on my Debit Card. The 1st was a tiny amount from Napster - instant problem as I have never used Napster in my puff! She then advised me of several other transactions totaling about £2000.00 None of which I had made - All of the transactions had also been PIN verified There was no issue, they told me that they had suspected this was fraud, hence the phone call, and the transactions never even hit my account! Well done Lloyds TSB - Apparantly they suspect that a rigged mobile card reader (as used in restaurants etc) had been used and it records your pin as you type it in therefore allowing the fraudster to get your card details & PIN at the same time. So, even though you may cover your hand whislt typing to hide your pin it doesn't do any good under these circumstances!! So much for Chip&Pin being secure - What a load of Boll cks!! If the Card comapnies really wanted to sort this out they could - they just wont spend the money - It's easier and cheaper to let the fraudster get away with it. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
