Agreed although I think it is a little less violent on the eyes that the X6.

I see Porsche has finally launched the Cayenne Diesel................................ they put the weedy littlest VW Toureg V6 diesel in it too and not the 4.2 V8. This is almost as ugly as the R-class!

@Tim:
This was not a decision by the marketing guys, this was a decision by controlling and accounting. This car will sell good, it's sad but that's the truth. They want to make a cheap, well-selling base-model and therefore they've put this engine in. People who will buy this buy it instead of an Cayenne (the base petrol model) or an ML320CDI or Q7 3.0TDI or else which doesn't care because I don't care about all of these cars.
Thank god they didn't put the bigger diesel in, otherwise anybody could buy it instead of a Cayenne S which would be sad because I actually like the mass of Cayenne S we have in Benztown, they truly make great noise! RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration

Tim, I suspect it's a pandering to the EU to try and reduce the overall Porsche range CO2.

I would imagine that it will deliver more margin to Porsche and not undermine the performance of the range of petrol Porsches including the Cayenne. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

want the real reason from an insider.... - its just that 80% of the SUV are Diesel engined cars and Porsche wants to have his part of the cake and since they bought the majority of the VW/Audi shares - they got cheap access to Diesel technology from Audi now - as simple as that...
