alpine integration

Has any one fitted a alpine vehicle Hub to a rrs. i am looking at using one to connect my ipod to the system, or do members find the range rover unit you can get is good enough. On the range rover unit can you control the ipod from the nav screen?

many thanks for any advice

I looked at doing this. I spoke with a company called Nav.TV they have a product out that allows full control of the iPod via the touch screen - it's expensive though, looking at approx £700 + fitting... RR Sport TDV6 HSE 07MY Java Black

2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

the 'VEHICLEDOCK FOR IPOD' from NAV.TV (touch screen ipod interface) looks very similar to the Alpine KCE-425i...

i'll be very interested to find out how they integrate the touch screen option using LR's Nav Screen... i know parts of the entertainment system is from Alpine, so maybe the NAV Screen is compatible after all. RRS First Edition S/C, Vesuvius Orange, Rear Entertainment, Alpine TUE-T200DV, Stormer Alloys. (+ 19" MTR's for playing in the snow!)

Here is a quick video/demo that a Nav-TV installer posted on rr.net:

(watch in high quality if you have the bandwidth, it's a lot clearer.)

Basically, it would appear that the Nav-TV module uses the dormant TV tuner interface to emulate iPod playback controls (if you actually do have a TV tuner installed you are probably screwed, I imagine), so the numeric touchpad you would use to tune into TV channels is used instead to navigate the iPod: 2 goes up, 8 down, 4 back, 5 enters... The iPod seems a bit slow to react to the touchscreen in that video, but other than that it's pretty cool and logical interface, actually. And as shown, it plays videos as well off an iPhone/iTouch. It took Nav-TV only 3 years to come up with this, but they did come through, eventually... Thumbs Up The prices I hear are crazy, though.
