The router isn't broadcasting on gsm or wifi until it recieves a request for an internet address and is tickled by the rj45. cable from the ps3. So the kids swimmers are safe

It is definatly a better setup than a standard DVD player, and when the time comes i look at doing something similar with the playstation 5, 6, 7 or what ever they call it buy then Very Happy

the PS3 is broadcasting on bluetooth and polling on wifi when it is on even if you are not using it.

The blue ray discs work fine, just watched a bit of planet earth, they obviously arent Hd 1080P bit they are the same as any other DVD on the screens and work fine. The best bit is having the inverter there, as I have just swapped out the PS3 for an xbox360 and it is interchangeable, the xbox360 is renowned for not liking being on the move, the discs can scratch. The PS3 works a lot better because of the way it loads the disks. However I was sat there doing some tests with the ignition on but without the car started, and the inverter alarm went off, just FYI a PS3 can drain a RRS sport battery in about 15 mins....... I had to switch everything off and it just turned over ........ learned that lesson quick.....

You need to do what the guys with electric winches on the front do - fit a second battery and a split charging system to provide the power. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

PS3's are notorious for the demand for juice.

I have 2 x MaxOffice battery back ups in my office, one of which my PS3 is plugged into. If the PS3 is on and we have a power cut it will drain a 15min PC back up in about 90 - 120 seconds Shocked

BTW, nice install Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I feel really slack now...... I have had my PS3 install fitted for a week now and still not got my finger out and took some photos for the group. Bow down Bow down Bow down

To be fair the only real difference to my install is that the power inverter is in the boot which allows me space under the single seat to store headphones, PS3 controller and PS3 remote control.

I will take some photos of mine as soon as I get time during daylight hours.

I would be interested in seeing what you have done for wireless internet....I thought the PS3 had that built in but I have never tried it.

My next step would be to see what hardware is required to run the signal to the front screen.

Has your PS3 got wireless capability of it's own?
I know some of them have..... or does the router give you extra coverage.

I fitted a 160GB latest version of the PS3 and I'm almost certain that it has wireless built in.... I know my lads other PS3 (first edition 80GB model) certainly has since we have used it many times before.

Hey Daz, yeah the PS3 has wireless capability. but it cant connect to anything on its own without an access point, if you are packed in a public hotpsot zone, or outside your house with a wireless router then fine you can get online. But my method is permenant internet access wherever there is mobile phone coverage. The PS3 needs to wirelessly or cable connect to an internet router in order to get online

I see, now it all makes sense.... not sure if I would use the internet on the PS3 unless I could tap into free wireless, say outside a McDonalds... I use my Blackberry Storm for mobile internet stuff.

I do think the PS3 is a cool toy for the car though Thumbs Up
