United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Rough Idle on startup

My TDV8 has developed a problem of rough idle after a restart. (feels like only 4 cylinders are firing)
Starting from cold is fine, this rough idle lasts for around 5 minutes then clears.
Its not rough when revved above 1000 rpm but returns when idling.
Unfortunatley this does not happen every time and no engine management light comes on.

anybody have any thoughts before I return to dealer, Knowing my luck it wont play up in their hands...

I have also tried different fuels, BP esso etc & have always steered clear of supermarket fuel. MY07 TDV8 HSE (BAS Remap), Java, Privacy Glass,Tasmods.

A call to Land Rover Assist would get you quicker results than taking it to the dealer and risking damage getting it to their forecourt. LR assist will tow or trailer you to a dealer if necessary. I see you have had a remap done to it, is it a Tunit type box or an ECU rewrite? That could be the cause of your problem 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Mmmm I've had exactly the same thing on mine a few times but it is intermittent, so now I have the knocking front end that knocks after 500 miles of being "sorted" by dealer, wiper blades that squeak and drag after about 3 days of being fitted and now running lumpy !!!!!

just remind me why I want another Sport Very Happy

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

hi
had the same problem with my V6 - noticed it happening a couple of times and it always cleared after about 5 mins - was going to give the dealer a call to book it in.
then one morning it took 3 or 4 attempts to start and then when it did it wouldn't rev above 1200/1300 rpm and then disappeared in a cloud of white smoke. Once it had been recovered to the dealer it was the EGR valve that was at fault - it seems quite common judging by the fact the parts were on back order !!
if your dealer ends up changing the valve make sure they replace both valves - one for each side of the exhaust - i've heard of people having the same fault and seemingly getting it fixed only for the same thing to happen a week or so later when the other valve goes down. 2005 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver Ebony Interior Sunroof, RSE, Side Steps

Tdv8 lumpy when cold

I have a 2010 rr sport done 157000, full genuine Land Rover servicing by myself as I work for main dealer.

I have tried all but a few items now to resolve the slight judder/ misfire sensation when the car is only cold on start up.

Here is my shopping list already done and tested out so far people: ps all genuine parts

2 new mass air flow meters
2 map sensors
2 top turbo hoses
2 turbo Actuator checks all ok
2 turbo to inter cooler side bore scope camera checks for oil all ok
2 turbo out out shafts checked for play when exhaust was off all ok
2 throttle bodies
2 egr valve head checks all ok
2 rocker cover checks all ok
1 new crank case breather replaced
1 oil filter iand oil of castrol magnatec 5w 30 A5
All fluids drained gear box sump pan and replaced with lr parts and lr oils

Well that's about it, apart from if I put my ear to the drivers wheel arch it makes more of a bop bop bop noise than the
Passenger side.

No dtc's logged in sdd just a chatter noise with the misfire also.

Has anyone repced the timing chains yet cause that's my next job and its BIG!
