....complete with horrendous knocking noises normally found on a £500 Lada Question

Maybe the new sales brochure will state:

Standard on Range Rover Sport Supercharged and the TDV8, optional on other models, the Dynamic Response system senses cornering forces and acts accordingly. It helps minimise the risk of roll, provides superb handling and maintains ride support and comfort. When off-road terrain warrants greater wheel travel, Dynamic Response releases the anti-roll bars. Warning: Due to this system, your premium car will develop a knocking noise characteristic in little over 2-3k miles. The sound is guaranteed to grate on your nerves and is likened to horrendous plumbing in an old mansion. The noise will, over time, become unbearable and will warrant unlimited visits to the dealer who will in turn stand there and take sharp intakes of breath. The knocking sound, being a characteristic, will leave you wondering why you had not spent that £60k on an alternative premium product. There is no charge for the noise and also no fix, being a characteristic. Pointless visits to your local dealer are all included in our 'premium sophistication pack'.

I jest, but I am still looking for that small print in MY sales literature. Somehow, I think it will be excluded. Censored L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

i agree its not good for a £60k + car.

some poor sods at the factory have probably been trying to work out whats making the noise for 16-18 months and got nowhere!

still, the MY updates look to take landrover on another giant leap forward so fingers crossed...

0-60 in 5 secs sounds a bit optimistic, considering the new Jag XKR with the same engine can do it in 4.6, and the Jaguar is about 2000 lbs lighter... Unless they put the Sport on a major diet? Still, anything 6 seconds or under for this beast - with the same off road capabilities as today's Sport - would be just awesome.

Will are you making the assumption that any new 'knock free' v2.0 of the DR would be retrofitted as a replacement to all the DR v1.0 cars with knocking as a warranty replacement by LR??

2ndR - I would like to think so, but I am guessing that only extreme cases would be looked at and the rest would for LR slide into oblivion. Rolling Eyes

Any revised under pinning replacement would cost them millions to implement, so I would hazard a guess and say that DR2 will be rolled out onto the MY10 model and in extreme cases and with extreme whinging, LR might consider a DR1 swapout.

This is still all new news to me, from the conversation I had with LR, no further fixed were pending and they had resorted back to the obsurd "characteristic" statement one again!! Rolling Eyes L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

If v2.0 is such an improvement on v1.0 I'm guessing that it would be different enough to be installed quite differently (mountings etc etc), so would likely not be not an easy swap/retro fit to a v1.0 car. Especially one that isn't half bare under assembly on the production line!

As you suggest I agree only the most serious/public/annoying 'complainers' would qulaify be replaced (if it was at all possible) as cost is likely to be high. You should be top of the list then Wink Laughing Thumbs Up

Can't see them fixing v1.0 now if what they told you is the official line, as they would then have to publicly backtrack to all those they have 'lied' to, and say this is no longer characteristic, but accepted as a fault blah blah blah.. Anyway at that point you'd be admiring that flock of pigs migrating north overhead! Whistle
