Bluetooth up-grade

RRS 2006
Have been informed by dealer that a upgrade is available for bluetooth and that the phone book will then be displayed.
Has anybody had this up-grade done and will it show phone book?
Will it work with the latest Apple 3g phone?
Thanks

Yes, it works. I have a 2006 and an iPhone 3G. I got mine for free. Do a search on this forum and online. I complained of constant unpairing issues and having to unpair and re-pair (haha) the phone and car. They found a TSB that mentioned an electrical spike in the system and did the upgrade for free.

Thats the story of how I got phone book over bluetooth upgrade on my 2006!

My experience is that:

The dealer fitted BT car kit and the factory fit car kit do not have the same functionality.
Your phone will pair with the car kit but you cannot 'push' your contacts to the vehicle or dial via the keypad on the radio and the callers phone / contact info is not displayed on the vehicle display.
You can store names / numbers on the car kit but you have to enter these by voice commands.
That the performance of the car kit is poor at best.

I had the kit installed when I bought the car and was expecting full functionality, but car I tried it on had a factory fit. Had I paid extra for it I would of told the dealer to take it out. To be blunt, its rubbish.

My advice....save lots of money and but a Parrot kit. You'll get the functionality you want for a fraction of the price. Downside is that you will have a small display unit somewhere on the dash.

Hope this helps.

Totally agree.

We have a BT parrot fitted to wifes A4 , what a superb piece of kit.
Pairs first time every time , full phonebook ,magic compared to my RRS.

Shame on you LR.

on our 57 plate HSE the phonebook works fine, I must add that the whole sat nav and phone/voice command on the RRS is not a patch on the one in our Nissan Navara Aventura, for gadgets the japanese do it better.
