Expecting parents, is the RRS a good choice?

Hi guys,

My wife and I are expecting our first child soon. As such, I've decided on the RRS where we have a lot of space for strollers and bags here and there but still be able to drive a nice looking car alone. Anyone have infant seats/car seats for kids in the RRS? I read on the motherproof site that it's not so easy to latch the car seats to the RRS, any comments?

Hey range, I have 2 lads, 3 & 1, and have found the RRS to be perfectly fine for the crap you will need to lug about.
I have 2 Recaro child seats which grow with the child until 12.

http://www.recaro-seats.co.uk/child-seats/young-sport.php

Obviously you will need to use a regular baby seat for a little while, we used the Jane system, with Isofix, effortless, mate, pure simplicity in the RRS, and no bending into a car because of the RRS's height, so really easy, no moans from MrsR, either.

Honestly, mate, get it, you'll love it.

Good luck. 2008 RRS S/C, Java Black/Ebony Sports Seats, Side Steps, Zebrano, Privacy Glass, Premium ICE, Hybrid TV, 22" Black/Polish Stormers.

LATCH / Isofix is just fine on the Sport, very convenient to use compared to those anchors buried deep into my wife's BMW seats. The RRS doesn't have center anchors, so you'll have to position the seat or base either behind driver or passenger seat. And you'll wish there was a way to turn on the overhead map lights above the rear seats from the front console should you ever want to check on the baby during night drives, that's something the Sport needs badly. Other than that, it's a great car for parents and kids, as long as you have two or less... Wink

Three words for you, they may mean nothing now but in about a year you'll understand:

Rear
Seat
Entertainment

Laughing

Congratulations to you both on your upcoming baby!

Very good choice - the height of the seats is also a plus point - no bending or stooping down with belts etc when fastening children in. Isofix works very well, seat covers worth consideration when they are a little older (to catch crumbs etc and protect the leather - probably worth it now actually anyway)...

Oh - and congrats, on the nipper and joing the RRS club Laughing

The only pain I find with the RRS and isofix seats is that the seatbelt seccuring catch is located quite deep into the seats.
This makes it a fiddle to clip the seatbelt into it.
Would be great if there was a way of extending the device out of the seat base.

Other than that, great car for kids....being high up they get an excellent view of the outside world.
Saying that my boy is now only interested in looking at the TV screen fitted in the headrest!!!!!

Lost me Daz - why are you using seatbelts on Isofix seats? Re the seatbelt fastener - do you have HST? Are the seats deeper then?

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Since the birth of our daughter 5 months ago, my wife has taken the RRS off of me and i've bought something else for my self.

We use the Maxi cosi cabriofix with isofix base and its so easy to use. The quinny buzz stroller fits comfortably in the boot with lots of room left for shopping. As mentioned before, the height of the rear seats for removing/installing the car seat is ideal.

The only downside is that my wife finds the tailgate quite heavy to close but you can get automated ones on newer models. 2006 '56 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java Black, Alpaca Interior, PTI, Sidesteps, 22" Stormers wrapped in 285/35/22 Toyo Proxes, Java Framed SC Grille, Java/Zambezi Side Vents, Matt Black LR3 Door Handles, Matt Black Lower Tailgate Trim, Colour coded lower body trims, Semi Smoked Taillights, Chrome Mirrors and Fog Light Bezels, Reflex Exhaust Back, Full Pentagon AutoGlass Privacy, Tasmod Sills, Clear Side Repeaters, pics in gallery!

I also decided to go for RRS, because of a child. With the infant you choose the whole package, for home, outdoor and car use. a complete package. I used this
http://www.bebeconfort.com/collection-2009...h_trek.htm
it is very comfortable, easy to push and easy to use it difficult conditions (country side, sand roads, etc). although even while folded it takes a lot of space. There is plenty on the market so it is a matter of taste and preferences.

But when the baby is a bit older (9 months +) then this ...

... is your choice!
I also looked out for recaro (because it is recaro!), but this car seat with the option that you can turn it facing you while putting the baby in is the best thing ever. This feature makes it soo easy. And at the end of the day this is what you need everyday when you are putting the baby in the seat with bags and other stuff hanging on you. My name: Patryk
