United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost
Junk in your glove box

Isn't it the amount of rubbish we accumulate in our cars amazing?

I've just spent the last half hour clearing out my Freelander ready for the big swap this afternoon.

How do we manage to accumulate so much crap in such a relatively small space as the average motor car?

I have just collected 5 different phone chargers, 4 cigarette lighters, 3 pairs of sunglasses (admittedly one pair was mine) 2 towels, one blanket/throwover thing. At least a dozen packs of paper handkerchiefs, one pack of baby wipes (my youngest is twelve) 2 tow ropes (I've only ever towed one car) Ice scraper (I have a heated screen) 17 CD's, 2 DVD's, one high vis rain proof jacket and an emergency tool kit

The list just goes on and on.

I've probably improved the fuel economy by about 5 miles a gallon with all of the weight I have taken out.

Mine is like that too... and oddly, it all comes from when the wife is sitting in the passenger seat. My 21-month old is even blameless - he just plays with toys and keeps them in the back with him. My wife seems to spread her rubbish all over the car.... I'm waiting for thre retro-fit ejector seat to become available and then it'll be fine...

congrats TB..

it is amazing the crap that accumulates.. but i love cleaning out my old cars, because of the great anticipation of whats coming next!

I always stick all the stuff into a tesco bag, and lob it in the garage, thinking, when i get the new car, i'll stick the stuff in there that i need, i.e. window scrapers, umbrella, cd's cases etc. etc. but i never do, so i have got about 5 bags of stuff in the garage with no car to put it into, as the new car always seems to accumulate its own Censored in about 1 day flat!!

Really chuffed for you TB. Thumbs Up

It is the most amazing feeling.

On 1st March, me and Mrs S took the day off as ours was being delivered up from Harwoods in Surrey.

When it turned up on the back of the trailer, I regressed to being an 8yr old, bouncing round the house Laughing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Kam - it's not just junk in your glove box - the whole of the pimp mibile is junk! The glovebox might be the only good bit of that car. BTW you are going to have fum trying to transfer the plate if what I overheard today is anything to go by. From what I gathered they actually come out and see if your car is a runner - oh dear! but what the heck you've got £2000 worth of car in the bargain! Don't worry about it VA.. have it all covered.. not sure why they wanted to see that guys car, was he trying to transfer the plate on/off the car in question, also was it because he didn't have an MOT for it, or a tax disc dated within last 6 months.. there is quite a lot of red tape to get around.. but think i've covered it more or less.. will just take time i guess..

Still awaiting the V5 though.. taking bleeding ages! barstewards!
