Another Bobby nugget.... that happened to mine on a few occasions and if I'd know about it then I wouldn't have had to spend half an hour trying to force it shut ![]() ![]() 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award - Joint Runner Up 2009 'Tech-Head Of The Year' Award - Runner Up Like it here? Why not set the LR button to switch the lights on and not open the gate?

Works for me as often have arms full of stuff to put in the boot and do not want to have to press unlock all doors twice to get the boot unlocked then you never know if it is open or not |

sort of related but a few times the tailgate has stuck in the 'not open and not closed' position. It ALWAYS sorts out when i turn the car on and press the lock/unlock button in the center console. I figured maybe the power got cut to the motor or something . |

The problem is due to the electronic lock mechanism not recognising the partially latched tailgate. It wont release to the open position because it doesn't "see" the latch as closed. And it won't lock for the same reason.

Thanks all, seems very much like the problem was as TB mentioned which was that the upper tailgate section somehow came undone slightly but not enough to open. It was therefore showing as being open on the dash indicator but not enough to lift up.
