USB connection in glove compartment

Hi,

I just want to share a small discovery I just made:

I have the LR004805 kit installed in my RRS. I asked specifically for it (even if LR no longer supply this unit), and I got the cradle installed next to the steering wheel. In addition I got the L/R and the USB connectors installed in the glove compartment. The cradle is used for my iPod Classic (160GB), and I was looking for a solution to charge my iPhone 3G.

Perhaps I am the only one who didn't know, but the USB connection in the glove compartment can also be used as a USB charger, and works perfectly with the iPhone 3G. Not all chargers do that, and the only way to find out is trial-and-error. If the charger does not work, the 3G will tell you, and it most likely will not charge.

Now if I could only find a smart dashboard/windscreen holder for my 3G! Does anyone know a small smart holder?

I have the same setup, but it never clicked in my head to do such a thing, great idea. Thanks

I have the same set-up, the USB connector plays fine from a memory stick, charges everything, but doesn't seem compatible with the new 32Gb i-touch.

It just gives a bunch of bleeps, flashes screen a few times and does nothing apart from charging the unit.

Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the LR cradle.

If anybody has got any suggestions of how to get it working, I would be very grateful! .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??

Check out these holders

Very good ..and cheaper on ebay ..make sure you select the one for 3g as the 2g ones are too small

Also one of these are great ..no holes to drill
