if jet washing ruined paintwork, I am sure car detailers would not use them on cars.

As just don't fire the jet at 90 degrees as this forces dirt into the paint, you should always fire at angles like 45degree to push the dirt off (from what i have read)

two things you must pay attention too when jet washing :
- your alloys
i have a 06 tdv6 hse and some kind of "paint" got off one wheel. Well i know it's not some paint but i do not know the word for it. My dealer never admitted that it was a LR defect and said that it was a band of anarchists who through some acid on the wheels (even if my car goes only from private car park to private car park)
- the side grills
one of them is an air intake for the engine and LR suggests in the manual that it is not a good idea to put high pressured water in there...

I've heard lot of dealer excuses, but the "it must have been a band of anarchists" excuse is a new one on me!

McBunny has the right idea. Don't ever wash it. No good comes of washing cars

Are normal car washes a no-no?

I could put the 7 series through that no problem week after week and the sensors were fine. WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

I don't think it's a major issue, some have reported a grounding issue after car washes but as the sensor dries, the problem goes away again. I used to wash mine in a drive-thru car wash and never had any issues but mine was far from washed every weekend.

Jet washes are hosepipes......... Are you guys such yo-yo's you need direction on how to operate a hosepipe ?

If you get the wet end too close to either the car, conservatory, wife or dogs arse it will ruin it ........

I jet wash mine (not too close) after a pre soak grime remover thingy every couple of days as I hate dirty cars. I have never had any problems with PDC on either car. I also have mine hand polished every month (because I am anal ) Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
