Switzerland 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
New RRS, have a few qts.

Hi,

Having just gotten my first RRS, I have a few (perhaps) basic catch-up questions:

1) Is there a way to have the two interior lights in the back come on every time the doors are opened? After I pushed the centre button (on the front light console) for a few seconds, now the front one comes on, but not the rear ones.

2) I have put 1'300KMs (10 days) on the clock so far, and driving around at normal speeds is all OK. However, when I press it a bit, like go up the mountain, or pushing it to 160KM/H on the motor way, there is a strong oil smell coming from the engine compartment. Almost like burnt rubber or oil. Is that normal (I have never had it that strong before in my other cars)?

3) When I leave my iPod in the LR cradle over night, it doesn't actually turn off. It stays on, and even when I press "stop", it continues to charge. Is that a problem on the battery?

Thanks in advance for all your insights.

Hope you enjoy your new toy.

1. Sorry no

2. Is the car new - if it is then the smell is probably normal. I notice you are in Switzerland so if the temp is below 4 degress then it's the FBH you can smell.

3. Don't know. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

THanks.

Regarding the oil smell; What is FBH, and does the smell get better over time?

The FBH is a heater that heats up the diesel. When you start the car in the morning when the temp is below 4 degrees you will see loads of smoke coming out of the front on drivers side (LHD) This is normal. If you open the bonnet the FBH is behind the left headlight. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

3. I have the LR cradle installed and leave it in the car 24/7.......it continues to operate (charge) when exiting the vehicle and I have never had an issue. If you are charging from the ciggie lighter socket, that may cause you issues. Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

I think it powers down at the same time as the sat-nav screen (a min or so after locking). Question

There is a way for #1!!!!!!!!!

For #1,
There is a way to get the rear lights to come on when you open the doors. It's quite involved, here's a link with pictures on how to do it.

That is done on a RRS!

Nice one, but a bit more involved than I am willing to go. Wish this was offered as a finished job, then I probably would pay someone to do it.
