It's not easy at the moment, the over stock of new cars and the falling prices on used cars has hit the dealers hard. This is evidenced by the fact that Pendragon the largest dealer group in the country with a £5bn turnover over has a market cap of £10 million, that's down from £800 million. It's not all bad and the motor trade is a very resilient and whilst there will be business failures, many businesses will come out the other side much stronger. There are indications that we have reached the bottom in terms of used car values, certainly for the smaller cars they are getting harder to source and with the exchange rate the price of new cars will start to increase once the current stock in the system clears. Anyway, much more importantly ROBO, your Porsche Turbo 4, is that a 993 ? Perrys For New & Used Range Rover Sports We also sell Full Fat Range Rovers |

I would totally agree Ken, it is important for dealers to keep their stock as low as possible (avoiding depreciation exposure), keep a close eye on expenditure and not to be greedy on margins; this will ensure that the smart ones ride the storm. As posted before, the final 2 quarters for us have exceeded budgeted expectations as far as used cars are concerned, I have been actively trying to source stock via the 'wanted' section, and my ears are currently ringing with the sound of an angle-grinder as our site redevelopment commenced on Monday, with signifficant investment. As Ken says, there are indications that we have reached the bottom, therefore I am not expecting the January Glass's Guide to be any way near as harsh as it has been over the last few months, however generally speaking the new year guide drop is always proportionally larger, therfore February may be the key index we need.
