Just picked up my new tdV8 (which is fantastic) which has been chipped by Landrover. Has anyone had or heard of problems with chipped cars and any issues with relibility and/or warranty claims as a result? |

i think there was a memo going round LR saying do not chip cars and any such car will invalidate the warranty.

I think a lot depends on who does the chip / remap. I had a p.m. from a gentleman who had his new TDV8 chipped and it warped the manifolds. The stealer sent the ecu to LR for interogation... |

Do you mean by the factory or by the supplying Land Rover dealer. There is a big difference in terms of warranty cover? Is this a brand new car, or just new to you? Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps. |

The car is 1 year old, I just bought it from Land Rover dealer. The car was chipped by the main land rover dealer for the 1st owner from new. It would seem difficult for the land rover dealer to object to do work on it under warranty when they chipped it. Has anyone heard of chipped cars having problems? |

If the dealer has installed the chip then they will have to honour the warranty if LR refuse to repair the car.

Yes, it was a Stratstone dealer i bought the car from!! Guess I will have to get the chip taken off! Real shame though cause the car goes and sounds great with it! But could be an expensive mistake leaving it on! Thanks for all the advice. |

I think it depends on who did the chipping. If it is a good tune then there doesn't seem to have been any issues whatsoever, the dealer is still going to cover everything as they have sold it to you. I'd keep it and enjoy it!! Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate |

Time will tell if there are any effects from chipping them.

Probably a silly question, but if Stratstone got this memo in April 2007, why are they still chipping cars, selling chipped cars and assuring us customers that it's all fine! |

I think the dealer's rely on the fact that they will handle the warranty claim initially and can 'fool' Land Rover into accepting any claim that they make on your behalf.....only trouble with this is that if your car is not taken to your supplying dealer (Stratstone in this case) and what happens if the warranty claim is challenged by Land Rover (and they request the ecu, failed parts etc)

So has anyone personally had a big failure on their car which they think was caused by having it chipped? |
