Which Tyres ?

Well, It's time to fit a new set of boots on my RRS.

Took the car to Costco as I've always found them to be the best price in Aberdeen.
Couldn't believe it when they refused to fit tyres to my car! apparantly Michelin don't
make tyres that will fit the RRS 19 inch rims. It seems it's all to do with the speed rating.
The tyres fitted to my RRS from new are Goodyear Wrangler F1 255/50R 19 107 Y.
They said the Y rateing is up to 165mph!! and fitting anything lower will void my insurance.
Now I knew this already, but, I can't believe that a TDV6 is rated so highly by Land Rover --
the car wouldn't even get near that speed if I drove it off a cliff and speed trapped it on
the way down Rolling Eyes

Any one got any advice on this issue? 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Try somewhere else, you don't need a 'Y' rated tyre, main thing is the load index. Michelin Latitudes are ok, as are many others. Maybe give AJS (site sponsor on disco3.co.uk) a call?

Hello Chaps,

As with everything there is a lot of rubbish spoken by tyre bays who may not have the tyre you need in stock.

The min load rating for the car is 106 (check the handbook , I think 20's have the lowest rating of 106)
At the factory they have substituted v rated tyres when they have run out of y's.
FFRR come with v rated from the factory (149 mph i think).

There will be no issue fitting a 106 v or y .

I did see a sport (brand new) with pirelli 255/55/19 107 V
I've seen michelin primacy 106 v and y rated, theres even a sport which parks near me sometimes , I spotted the michelins and had to go over and check.

I think costco might be seeing pound signs?

Speak to AJS , you wont get any flannel there.

Good luck

Will_wonka, Sorry M8, maybe i'm being thick or something, but I don't see the joke Confused
When it comes to price Costco normally cant be beaten. When I had my A4 Quattro they were
less than 1/2 the price of anywhere else in Aberdeen!! 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Merely commenting on the fact that every single time I have been to Costco - it never seems that busy. I was going to pop in last time when both the Rangie and the SL required new rubber, alas every single time I forget they do tyres Big Cry

Glad to see someone used them and next time, I will give it a shot L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

Just had 4 Toyo Proxie ST fitted £130 a corner. bought them from http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m26b0s0p0 probably the cheapest around to supply. Make sure you know a garage that can fit them if you have 20" and above as it can work out to be very expensive if you go to your local LR dealer. Most tyre fitting garages won't even look at anything above 18". Hope it helps!

I had 22'' Toyo's fitted to my RRS, about £150 a corner - and yes, you need to find somewhere that can get a 22'' wheel on their machine to balance it.
