Amber Engine management Light

Just leaving Westfields tonight, and the Engine management light came on - Amber - no other problems, no limp home mode or lowering suspension. Ok, washer fluid is low and now needs a service - but otherwise fine - drove home normally. Tried soft reset (locked car, unlocked - even left it for half hour) but still on....any ideas? Will drop it to CH tomorrow for a check, but hope it clears in the morning.

Thanks for any advice.....

A couple of things can cause this...from a simple loose gas (petrol) cap, be sure it clicks a few times when closing, or an air/vacuum leak (did you recently replace or open the air filter case?). Usually this CEL will clear overnight. If you did not get a Reduced Engine Performance indication, that's a good thing. PJPR

I started her up this morning and the light was there - and thrn went back in to bring stuff out to the car - when |I started up again, it had gone - and after a 100 mile drive this morning, it's still ok. Fingers crossed. Not tempting fate, but still the most reliable car I've owned - more so than any other BMW, Audi or Merc I've had. Bentley has been back 7 times in 4 months....but the RRS still going well. As a separate subject, anyone know of a LR specialist in London for servicing. If I don;'t find one, will have to swallow the £600 CH are charging for a 2nd service Big Cry

Just on the back of what VA said - have booked my car on at Guava in Guildford - ok a little way to go - but they have a loan car (yes a Rover 25 I think! haha) and service all in for £400 inclusive. Bargain!

Guava used to be Rover/MG dealers...they even sold the Tata safari, how much of an insight was that !! No wonder they are using Rovers for loan cars.....they probably have hundreds parked around the back......it could be worse though, Tata Safari Whistle , imagine the embarrasment Rolling with laughter L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

You might be lucky and get the bright yellow 25 - it does however have loads of LR stickers plastered on the side so that people know it's a loaner. One word of advice - ask for the radio code before you leave the service centre. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Only thing is - they can only fit me in Christmas week (with the Rover 25 loaner) but £400 is a good deal. CH said they can fit me in on Monday - and that suits better as my car is already over 1000 miles on it's due date for service (car has 27K on it). But Laura wouldn't give me a price and said she would try and work something out - so will let you know what they say....CH is only 5 mins from my office, so maybe a better option - but how many of us would drive 2 round trips of about 120 miles all in all - to save about £150 ish quid......not sure I would, but at the same time feel I should be more concerned on the cost in these frugal times.....
