VAT HELP

Need advice,

I placed a £1500 deposit on a brand new car last wednesday, the car was already built and is awaiting shipping from Germany.

now they have announced a drop in VAT, the VAT on mine currently sits at £6821.85 on the new deal it would have been £5847.30, so £974.55 difference

I dont want to loose that straight away without even having the car so

Am I entitled to the VAT reduction if my car is delivered after the VAT date (1 DEC), Or would I have to ty and get my £1500 back and re order afterwards

I have signed an order form with all the 17.5% figures on but it is now wrong anyway as they added £500 for supaguard I did not want which they have agreed to remove

deposit paid is already invoiced and therefore will incur 17.5% - if the remaining invoice is not issued until after 1st December then the remaining should be invoiced to you at 15%

sorry, to make clear - the remaining invoice shouldn't be issued until the day of handover so as long as this is on/after 1st December it will be at 15%

It's not an issue, if the invoice and car is delivered post 1st December the VAT rate will be 15%, you won't have a problem with the dealer. Perrys For New & Used Range Rover Sports

As Kaine already stated:
The invoice date on the final invoice should be the day of benefit which is the day of the delivery and this is also the relevant date for the calculation of VAT so you do not have to pay the old VAT in the first place.

I happen to know that unfortunately since we had a 3% raise in VAT last year. Big Cry

So, which car will you buy?

I think you need to look at the bigger picture...

Interest rate cut means more money in your pocket if you have a mortgage (Not great for savers though but they don't want you to save, they want you to spend)

Protected savings (Ironically, especially if you are now with Northern Rock!!!)

VAT cut of 2.5% isn't exactly a headline grabber but it is ANOTHER tool with which Govts. can help to ease the burden on its people.

I'm far from defending the government, but it is fairer to take a balanced, overall view than just one thing in isolation. Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I guess if you can still afford to finance a 45K car in the current economic 'climate' then you havent really been affected at all Smile

Laughing Yes I can confirm she is a woman - she's from oop North but not that far!

ST, the trouble is when people are scared of loosing their jobs 2.5% is not going to get you to spend; especially when shops are already lopping 20 - 30% off. I had a call from a mate today who sells plants, many are £1 - how much should he sell them for from December?

People would be better off working how much they are going to "save" this year and take a punt on some shares with that money Laughing Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate
