Don't have the diesel option here (yet), but I'm very happy with the 4.4 HSE. May not be as quick from dead stop as my X5, but it when it's moving it really has a lot of "git up and go" available on demand. After 13,000 miles of mostly highway driving I'm getting 17.4 mpg (American) which is not too bad, but way behing the X5 3.0 which is returning 22.1 mpg over 34,000 miles. 2011 BMW X3 35i Carbon Black

There is a 4.0litre V6 petrol engine available over the other side of the pond, but it was only launched in the 3rd quarter of 2005 if I remember correctly. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the TDV6's performance even less when chipped. I also drive a GT3 which is good for 190 & will 0-60 in just over 4secs. The RRS gets me to work in about the same time, in more comfort & more relaxed.

If you want a wee bit more power then the LRE at dunkeld have a 4.4Supercharged that somehow managed to escape from the Gaydon test centre! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The Jaguar Supercharged engine is capable of far more than is on offer to LR customers. But the RRS has been designed to do far more than just blast up and down motorways! I remember reading elswhere on this forum of how LR in the early stages of developement couldnt understand why all four tyres were flat each morning after a full day testing - it was due to the power of the engine driving the wheels which had so much grip due to LR technology that the actual alloy wheel would spin/move in the tyre & thus break the seal around the rim, gradually deflating overnight.
