Jersey 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Chawton White

I can confirm that putting some T2 in the fuel does have some amazing effects on the general performance of the engine.

Ok, I'll go for it as well... I found some semi-synthetic JASO FC 2-stroke oil at 4.4 £/L.

I'm trying it in my old wheezy TD6 FFRR.

I guess you don't see instant results so I shall wait till I have done 3 tanks of fuel before I report back

Anyone else trying it? L319 D4 HSE

You will see instant results , the next time you do a cold start , Thumbs Up

it gets better over the first three and then you'll wonder why more people dont do it.

What kind of oil 2t? Synthetic, mineral, sythetic mix??

Hello, I read the post and I was on my way to the Marina and discovered that the only 2 stroke oil was for marine outboard engines, one was mineral (didnt say anythign about synthetic) and the other one said " synthetic mix(es).
I live in a country where diesel quality completely sucks, and I mean bigtime! What can we do on this?
Thank you!
JJB

Hi JJB,

mineral 2 stroke is ok , semi synthetic is fine but DO NOT use fully synthetic , it leaves a residue that mineral does not.

Jaso FB, FC or FD (the best)
This equates to ISO EGB , EGC or EGD

If you are using marine stuff the USA boys use TCW3 'cos the marine stuff is more readily available in some states.

Make sure it says mineral or semi synth and low ash .

Hope this helps

An update:

I've been adding 2 stroke oil as per the thread above and my conclusion is pretty inconclusive!

I did not notice the car being quieter on cold start

I did not notice there was less smoke under throttle

I did not gain any fuel economy, if anything, it dropped slightly by about 1mpg on average over the 4 tanks of fuel I tried it with.

Other people apparently have seen good results. Nothing bad came of it but I think I'll not bother. Worth a try. L319 D4 HSE

My update,

on the regular run to my office , West midlands to St Neots , Cambs..96 miles, I usually see 31.6-31.9 on a regular basis.

Since using a drop of 2 stroke it's up to 34.8 as from today. Shocked
Just about a 10% improvement.

I'm curious to see if the good times continue.

Flippin eck she's frugal.

It's funny to see how we keep re-inventing things:

I was using 2-stroke oil in my Volvo Penta 8 cyl. Dielsel boat engine for years. We had a much high mix ratio, but it was like night and day compared to when just using straight diesel.

Also when I lived in Scandinavia, driving a Mitsu Diesel I was adding 2-stroke, and never thought anything of it. Of course when I get my new TDV8 I'll put in 2-stroke, just looking for the right brand to use, which I can get here in CH.

I'm in Switzerland as well, I'm using the FC semi-synth 2-stroke oil from Coop, found in the do-it section, 7.90 CHF/L, it does the job well! Thumbs Up
As long it's semi-synth and AT LEAST FB, it's ok, no need to worry about the brand.
