Locked access height...

Ok, so when I select the normal access height, around 20 km/h the car automatically lift itself up. But what about if I lock it? Will the car lift up at some point?

Probably it's in the manual, but it just came up in my mind and can't check it now... Embarassed

The car always raises itself from access height once you move off, even if locked... Very Happy

Ah, so what's the point in locking it?

I think the "raise" speeds are different aren't they?

If you lock it for access to that underground car park that you can't fit in it allows you to drive at car park speeds to your place. However, if you keep it in access height because you're a shortarse and need it to be able to get in then it raises itself earlier....

Someone will doubtless prove me wrong Embarassed

Yeah, that was my idea... Different raising speed... I'm sure about the first one, when the car is in non-locked access, but I don't know the locked one.

The locked one allows you to drive up to 10 mph I believe in access mode. And you get an extra warning before the car raise to driving mode. Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Example:

You drive into a multi-storey car park which is only marginly higher than your RRS. If you lower the car and drive gingerly to your space then you will be fine as long as you drive below the activation speed. The problem lies when you come back to the car, put your shopping in the boot and pull out of your space.................

Crunch!!

In that situation if you lock it in access mode then it will stay in access mode until you unlock it or exceed the target speed.

I say target speed as I'm not sure if it is different from market to market. Therefore check your handbook.

Just an example of why it is very very useful!

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

You are in "CRAWL" mode when you 'lock' the vehicle in Access height.

1. The suspension will automatically rise from Access height when the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h (6 mph), regardless.

2. "CRAWL" mode allows you to drive the vehicle at low speeds at Access height (as in low car parks). However, on-road height will be selected automatically if the vehicle speed exceeds 40 km/h (24 mph).

Hope the above explains the difference between Access and Crawl heights.
...and there is a point in locking it!! Wink

PS. Locking in Access mode (CRAWL mode) is not for the purpose of holding it in Access mode whilst parked. Wink Malaysia Boleh!
