I asked about this while I was in the dealer leaving the car for it's brain transplant.................. they have no idea whether it should be fitted to an SE or not. They are going to contact LR for me to find out (bet they will have forgotten by the time I go to collect the car at the end of the week!) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

This whole pre-heater thing is very odd! I'm taking the line that my car does not start well in cold weather and there must be a fix = pre-heater. I WANT ONE! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I understand why the pre-heater's meant to be there and why it's a Good Thing but I'm not sure I gather why it helps with cold starting, if you can't set a timer on it to come on before you actually go to start the car in the morning.... Question Question Question

It doesn't help with cold starting... helps bring the engine up to temperature far more quickly - thus allowing the cabin to warm up faster too.

LR left the timer settings in early build D3's suggesting it could be set to come on as and when requested. Same with the pre-cool to start circulating air around the car at a pre set time.

Later builds and a new SW release have these menu options removed... unless your dealer has not updated the instrument pack software that is Wink

So the fact that my RRS takes ages to heat up in the cabin area could be down to a lack of a pre-heater. Do the latest software upgrades sort this out and how? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I think there's some changes to the way the blending works in a newer s/w release... I'm sure I've read some folks on here have had it and their heater performance has improved. I'm like you VA.... takes ages for the car to get warm and I've tried everything. It's not been so bad past few mornings as the ambient temp hasn't been too low...

this probably due to the lack of an FBH in VA's case... the blending change was to avoid FBH fumes and also to stop cold air from the face vents when the temp dial is set to warm you up.

Pre-Heater.

I have one. I did wonder why there were fumes from the front occasionally. I also recognised it from its picture as before I wondered what the box was. Thank you for enlightening me Rimini Red Rimini Red HSE (D).Gone but not forgotten!

looks different than the D3 one... slightly smaller in the pic or maybe situated differently.

I've had this software upgrade. It does make a small improvement to the speed the heater warms up, but more importantly it makes a huge difference in the way the climate control works - it now works properly - not more setting it to maximum to get any heat - I've never put it above 20deg since and it is actually hot!! Matt

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

OK then, managed to find out a little bit of info about the FBH tonight.

Early production vehicles only had the FBH fitted as part of the cold climate pack. Hence the reason why both VA & Tim have big gaps behind the nearside headlamps.

On current production vehicles the FBH is fitted as standard on all TDV6's.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
