What plugs into the arm rest box? Newbie

Hi everyone, my second post here after the intro. I'm looking at a '06 RRS and have been seriously considering picking it up. Have seen it a few times already and searching all forums for all info on these great ride. Question I have is, I see that something plugs into a dock under the arm rest in the center console. What is that? I assumed it was for an Ipod but doesnt look like an Ipod connection cable. I did a search first and couldnt find anything in the first 10 pages and cannot download a manual of the net. This vehicle is in Canada. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Its just a 3.5mm Phono Input for plugging in an MP3 player - its audio in only so you get no charging or system integration of course

It doesn't look like a phono input, it looks like something docks on it. it is under the center console top cover.

But IIRC you need an adapter for most makes of phone ............................. and LR no longer supplies them!
They stopped fitting them with the 2008.5MY. You can still use the PTI on the bluetooth, it's just that you cannot charge the phone without a cigarette lighter type charger. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
