So what would you do if you bought legal replacement plates from somewhere like Halfords? They are plain.

I know, as I replaced the plates on my Beemer! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

that was what i was thinking

but they said she didn't have the manufactuer on it, I suppose the place that makes up the licence plate might have to put their details on it, so the police then would know who to speak to, but they normally say these are show plate and not to be used on the road.

She also had a illegal playboy bunny, wrong sized letters & font and incorrect spacing

it was M 7OO SXY she try to get away with by saying "I'm a woman, and blonde I don't know the rules" but she had been warned previously Rolling Eyes

Right, well what the regs require is that the company who made up the plate must put their name and postcode on them.

In the UK we haven't ratified the EU requirement to have the national/ EU flag and UN designator for the country on the plate yet so there is a grey area for having flags on the plates. There is only ONE flag approved for the UK and that is the Union Flag so all the nationalists and patriots can be prosecuted as the only designator accepted for the UK is GB. No Flag of St George, Welsh Leaks/Daffodils or Saltires/Rampant Lions etc until they get independence from Whitehall.

I have a set of Halfords plates and they do have the maker and the postcode on them - it is not in black print but looks like it is engraved into the back of the perspex bewteen the front plate and the coloured backing strip- has the Halfords logo and B98 0DE but you have to look hard to see it. In the photo below the logo shows up well in the shadow left from the flash!

Thanks ST - only just seen your response - yes, poor - that poor that John has had 'Johns Range Rover' written along the bottom of the plate to explain why he spent his money on the plate....
