Some Police forces using non-type approved speed guns

Interesting item on Radio 4's consumer programme yesterday regarding technical specs of handheld speed guns. It transpires that some police forces have been buying equipment that doesn't comply with Home Office type approval regs (to save money as type approved equipment is more expensive!) and also even with type approved equipment they haven't been maintaining them or calibrating them in compliance with the Home Office requirements that the devices must be returned to the MAKER for recalibration annually, as a way of reducing costs............................. so if you get done by a handheld device or a laser ask the nice officer for a copy of the MANUFACTURERS annual calibration check certificate and also note the make/model and serial number of the detector so you can check if it is a type approved model. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The local plod use handheld speedguns but Scottish Police don't come under the HO afaik so it won't work in Scotland as a way to get off a fine. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
