Keys locked inside RRS

Just in case (like me) you are daft enough to lock your keys in your RRS thought this may help you.
I went fishing yesterday 40 miles away from home on a weirpool on the River Trent down a farmtrack miles from civilization.
Packed up at 6.00pm took off all my warm clothes, wallet and phone on centre console, last job just take off my boots and pop driving loafers on and away I go,lasagne and wine prepared having rung dear wife to say I'll be home by 7.30 latest.
Sat in boot, remove boots, shoes on, shut tailgate, loud clunk, doors lock, ooooooooooh s Censored t doors lock, nooooooooo please, run around car hoping at least one door has been left open,no such luck.
Fortunately another angler who was fishing next to me has a Dis Censored ry , has a phone and a LR Assist card so no great problem,or so I thought!!!
Ring LR Assist and explain situation,40 miles from home,no phone,no wallet, going dark,no warm clothes, loafers and no socks, getting cold and in the middle of nowhere.
No problem she says, just get your wife to get the spare key and press unlock with it next to her phone and hold yours on speaker next to drivers door mirror and it will unlock, didn't work.
I ask is there a Plan B,can you send somebody out with a master key,no sir our technicians only work until 6.00pm.
Plan C,we can send a pick op low loader but because it's locked and can't be rolled up the ramp you will have to pay for "additional equipment" (a crane?)to put it on the low loader.
Plan D,we can send a taxi to you, take you home, get your key and take you back to your car but you will have to pay for the taxi and then make a claim on us to get your money back, claim limit £60,yeah right gonna leave my car with phone and wallet on full view in a deserted car park with the keys visible in the boot for the best part of 2-3 hours.
So after a groveling phone call to bestest mate ended up wife driving over to him with the keys and finally arrived about 8.00pm (just before hypothermia kicked) in to rescue me.
So,given my advancing age and declining mental faculties I will be investing in a curly extending key clip from Poundland and clip them to my belt on future forays.
Just need to work out now how to switch off the auto lock on the boot door. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Yes I did try that;
"No problem she says, just get your wife to get the spare key and press unlock with it next to her phone and hold yours on speaker next to drivers door mirror and it will unlock, didn't work."
and confirm that despite the assurance from LR Assist it is definitely BUSTED.
Also tried bashing the door under the handle as suggested by a passing walker who swore blind he had seen it work, just ended up setting the alarm off. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

If you have a proper LRA tech they know how to break into the cars. My parents did this in their D3, took they about 30 - 40 minutes, an ordinary tech that they send out stands no chance. My parents situation was complicated by the fact we were packing up to go home and the caravan keys were locked in the car and the spare car key locked in the caravan Laughing Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

Jesus. This is a huge urban myth. Think it through.

Can't you disable the lazy locking so the car doesn't automatically lock up? Must get the manual out tomorrow and have a look. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I re-created what I'd done today.
Put everything inside car, wallet, phone and bottle of water. and I think then got out and locked car.
Had a pee, opened back door with bottom programmable button(therefore only opening back door),took my wellies off and put my shoes on,jumped off boot(leaving keys in boot),shut back door which locked instantly.
Although it wasn't caused by the auto locking function I have now switched off in settings from the lhs stalk.
Once I've worked out how to do it I will also change the prog button on the key do do something else so that in future I have to unlock all the doors not just the rear door to load/unload. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Chris, what you have just done is using the programmable button to open the boot. It will lock the car again when you close the boot, that's understandable.

However, in your first post you said you put your clothes, wallet etc. on the centre console. I would assume in order to do this, you would have unlocked the car the conventional way, that is all doors open. In this situation, the car will not lock up when you close the boot. This is totally different from unlocking the boot only via the programmable button. Malaysia Boleh!
