Steve, clearly a man with an eye for great quality (and fantastic bargains!).

That vehicle went on ebay a few months ago and was bought by a chap from Prague.

There are some good ones out there but you do need to be careful to avoid a complete dud. Bear in mind that some of these vehicles will have had 1,000's of hours of work and 1,000's of pounds of money spent on them, yet their second hand value can be a small fraction of their cost. But some have been stuck together with chewing gum, using knackered parts, accquired a dodgey MOT, then thrashed to within an inch of their lives (then 2 inches more) and then sold off to some unsuspecting person for real money. But the good ones have been prepared by a truly gifted and committed individual, who has then lavished maintenance after each use, and now must sell to either repay the overdraft or be able to put their money into the next great truck project that is taking shape in their garage.

Fleabay is not a bad place to keep a watch, or Devon 4x4 have a pretty active forum with For Sale section http://www.devon4x4.com/forum/4x4-bits-for-sale/ . Or go along to your local off road club and ask around for vehicles for sale.

Cheers Smarticus, I was surprised has to how few are about. It maybe a case of buying a 90 and starting myself, I'm not in a big rush so will just bide my time and see what comes up over the next couple of months.
Thanks for the Devon 4x4 link, will def keep an eye on there, I'm also watching the main LR forum as well. If anyone has any other suggestions for places to look, clubs etc, please feel free to post them.

Slippery slope that one Steve. Can work out very expensive. A typical shopping list is as follows:

Decent base vehicle (300tdi) - £5,000
Set of big tyres and wheels - £600
Set of rock slider sills - £180
Steering guard - £100
Diff guards - £80
Recovery ropes - £40
Raised air intake - £150
Hi Lift Jack - £75

Front winch and bumper - £1,250
Upgraded battery - £125

You will very quickly get to £10,000 before you even think about diff locks, rear winch, upgrade inter cooler, GPS, CB, electric fans. Yeah......but it will be fun, you sound like my wife But I have already ditched the idea of building it my self and will just wait until i find one ready to go, like you say it is a bloody expensive route to build one yourself. Speed Limits! not where I live!

Yep thats pretty hard core, I've been to see a few now and they have all had one thing in common, their present owners have been selling because the vehichle is now, how can I say this politely, very tired I also want to be able to use it for work and get the dog in as well. So I think I'm gonna change tack a little, hopefully find a 90 in the lightest of use condition with MTR's, tow bar, snorkel and maybe a winch, I'm in no rush so will see what comes along, thanks for keeping a look out for me  Speed Limits! not where I live!
