Very low ST, but it should never have got into that situation in the first place, to me it also looks like they haven't put the stabliser fins out. TBH I hope the crew were all dismissed as that is a very serious mistake to put such a ship into those conditions, it also looks like they have not "hove to" just riding the waves with enough speed for steering and no more............................... makes me wonder if the cruise operators put pressure on the captain to get the ship back to port in time for all the chartered planes taking the passengers home. There is another video on that link that shows what was happening INSIDE the accommodation. Must have cost the cruise operators a vast amount in compensation to the passengers as well as putting all their lives at risk.
One thing for sure a ship like that would have had 4-5 days warning that a cyclone was on it's way to meet them, which makes it an even more stupid thing to have done. I'm paid to avoid situations like that and to use my judgement as to what is the best way to avoid such a storm, you don't get any thanks for doing what the captain of that ship did, and you also don't get anythanks if the ship deviates round a storm and nothing happens, I get sh*te from the charterers for burning extra fuel or adding miles onto the passage - I get even more if I loose cargo over the side, which with the rolling that ship was doing I most certainly would have! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not had a look at the video (2 reasons 1, I'm in the middle of the the north sea on a ferry, 2, it is a slow connection)
Last night before we met up Tim I was looking through my uncles paperwork and along with the manual on Sultzer Diesels there was a whole document on the Denny-Brown stabilizer system and what vessels they were fitted to from Denny's ship yard. Also there was quite a thick book on cross channel paddlle steamers Smile Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

Shocked Shocked Shocked

I've been in some rough seas, but I don't think I have ever seen anything as bad as that.

As Tim said, ships would normally avoid anything that rough, especially if there are paying passengers onboard. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Tim, I watched a documentary on the Estelle Maersk the other day............... wow! I take my hat of to you parking those ships let alone navigating across waters such as those in the clip. They were saying it's the biggest cargo ship, but I'm not sure how old the program was. Very impressive how the logistics of the containers work.

Estelle is one of the largest containerships in the world - mine (Maersk Seville) was what they call an Ultra Large Container Carrier, but The E class a Mega Carrier - my ship can carry 9000 x 20ft contianers Estelle can carry 13,000 of them........................... but the handling is very similar. I've already been trained to command the next generation - 18,000 x 20ft containers should they ever be built! My ship is 335m x 43m, Estelle and her sisters are 397m x 58m. When we pass close to an E class even my quite large ship is dwarfed by them! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It was a design brief too, for Denny's shipyard and it closed in the 1960s. My uncle moved to Barkley & Curles engine works after that. I did find a picture of them pouring the molten Iron for the cylinder liner for a Denny-Sultzer diesel. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh
