Guys

I am approaching 15k miles and the first service is looming. Should I go for Leeds or York dealerships and what should I be paying for this service?? My experience with both when considering a purchase has been less than positive....

Any experiences greatly appreciated.

Seems the average price for a main dealer is a tad over £300 (plus the usual fight over brake pads being 20% worn therefore in need of replacement )

Hi Bellautos

How much are we looking at? I am in Barkston Ash nr Tadcaster and will be travelling in to Leeds for work on the day so a courtesy car would be beneficial.

Will probably be booking in within the week.

Can we confirm that the warranty won't be compromised by not using a main dealer?

Jonathan, you definitely CAN now have your car serviced outside a main dealer as long as OE parts are used and they are a reputable company which Bell Autos clearly are  Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

Guys, thanks for all your feedback - I shopped around and York were £50 more expensive than Leeds and Leeds (Guy Salmon) could do it far more promptly (and more convenient to me) with a courtesy car. Bellautos didn't respond to my last posting so maybe I'll use them next time.

All in all I was very impressed with the Leeds dealers. I vowed I would never go back after their indifferent sales approach - "it's a range rover so you'll buy it regardless of what i say or how un-enhusiastic I am..." however service and parts departments have been exemplarary.

Not amazing therefore that the sales dept is very quiet atthe moment (credit crunch and all that) and the service dept has never been busier. Get some more enthusiastic sales guys and you might sell more cars!!

There - got that off my chest!

Only 8k on the clock but my first annual service is due and I just got a quote from Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton for £450 for the 1st Service!! This looks excessive from what I've been seeing from everyone else. I've asked them to see if they can be more reasonable but if not can anyone recommend a reasonable place for the 1st service in the Surrey/West London/Berkshire/Hampshire area. thanks 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8, Stornoway Grey

Try Hunters in Guildford they are the cheapest main dealer in the area for service. There are also 2 independent service centres, one at Raynes Park - part of the Wimbledon 4x4 set up. From what I've heard they are reasonably priced and keen for business - I seem to remember in a local mag recently they were advertising service for about £200+VAT but don't quote me on that. The other inde is a place in Guildford called Guava - also heard good things about them.

Guava are cheaper than Hunters, I think you'll find VA

Thanks guys - I'll call around these service centers and get some costs. Thames Ditton did come back with a £100 reduction. I just find it leaves a bad taste in your mouth when they start so high and then cut if you challenge them.
