2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
How low?

Hi, just bought a black rrs supercharged and plan on modding it a bit. Already booked in for colour coding and a few other things. At the moment its got standard 20" rims on but they'll probably be replaced with 22's when the tyres are dead. One thing i'm not sure about is lowering it. How much lower is too low and does it affect the ride comfort much. I had an M3 which i modded the hell out of before this, handled great but was not a nice drive so don't wanna go down that route again!

Remember the RRS suspension is an air suspension system. A company in weybridge Surrey (I think!) offers the lowering mod but personally I wouldn't recommend it. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

I've seen a guy on ebay offering to do it as well, thought i'd ask on here first to get a general opinion. Love the way it drives so don't wanna mess it up.

I lowered a Quattro Turbo a few years back. Brilliant on hill climbs and sprint races but not a pleasant car to drive for anything more than 30 minutes.

I certainly wouldn't lower the RRS. It's got fantastic posture as it is, the ride is great (mostly) and with 22" wheels will look the dogs danglies without being lowered..... Thumbs Up

That said.......it's your car to enjoy the way you want to Very Happy Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Theres pictures of my wifes RRS in the gallery on 22's in access mode and it looks fantastic. Ive tried driving it with access mode locked and its not very pleasant but fine on normal ride height.

If you want the comfort, don't change the suspension. 2006 '56 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java Black, Alpaca Interior, PTI, Sidesteps, 22" Stormers wrapped in 285/35/22 Toyo Proxes, Java Framed SC Grille, Java/Zambezi Side Vents, Matt Black LR3 Door Handles, Matt Black Lower Tailgate Trim, Colour coded lower body trims, Semi Smoked Taillights, Chrome Mirrors and Fog Light Bezels, Reflex Exhaust Back, Full Pentagon AutoGlass Privacy, Tasmod Sills, Clear Side Repeaters, pics in gallery!

i don't want to compromise on the ride comfort, love the way it drives as it is so will leave the suspension alone. Even having second thoughts now about swapping the wheels for 22's. On a different note i'm sure i saw a post on here about somewhere in the north west that do remaps but now i can't find it. Sad

A lot of folks have said that the move to 22s hasn't impacted the ride at all - yet others seem to be affected simply by moving from 19s to 20s.... your mileage may vary of course. I think 22s fill the arches very nicely, although if you're likely to ever take it off-tarmac expect them to get damaged Very Happy

I think i'll go to 22's (Tigers Very Happy ) if/when we get a FFRR.

We noticed a significantly firmer ride switching from 19's to 20's so from personal experience I wouldn't want to put my Sport on anything bigger than 20's.

Have to agree though, 22's do look great and fill the arches much better Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

i considered the lowering option but after seeing one driving past it seemed bouncy from the outside.

I cant see the point with my 22's when its in access mode parked or up to 30mph then it looks good,

only raises past that point and the you get the comfort so its best of both worlds
