Kam to be honest it sounds about right.....the price that is....I still think they should always phone the customer and say what they intend to do and how much. |

Hourly rate on the D3 is about £110 ph - it's steep but this is what LR charge. FYI I hade a full set of pads & Discs changed at my friendly local garage for £230 inc parts.

There no way they should just carry out £500 of work without OKing it first. Especially if the car was booked in for warranty work!!.....

OK not 100% sure but if the car is an Auto I thought the EPD worked by locking the transmission, I standby to be corrected, Bobby where are you.... Speed Limits! not where I live!

i wouldnt rely on the post dated cheque. Banks will cash most cheques now without looking at them. And the line i have had off them when they have been cashed early is that they should not be used like that.

Under normal use the rear discs would not need replacing at that mileage, and even the pads would have to have been heavily used to have worn out so soon. The only thing I can think of with this outcome, is that maybe the park brake shoes have been rubbing and have themselves worn and also worn the drum part of the rear discs, thus requiring replacement. However this is not a 'wear and tear ' issue, because if the park brake was operating as it should, then there would be hardly any wear to these components.( Park brake is applied when STATIONARY,and should NOT rub whilst moving). So in my view, wear in these components has been caused by faulty park brake operation, a well known (to LR) fault with both the D3 and RRS, and should be treated as a warranty claim. Get them to go and kick some arse Kam, and Good Luck. PS if the dealer doesn't play ball, call LR customer relationship gaff, just be polite, and to the point. Steve, this is for the earlier RRS... The parking brake is an electrically actuated system that operates drum brakes integrated into the rear brake discs. The parking brake system consists of: * A parking brake switch. * Left and right drum brakes. * Left and right brake cables. * An emergency release cable. * Two parking brake indicators. * A parking brake module. The parking brake is operated by the parking brake module, which adjusts the tension of the brake cables to apply and release the drum brakes. Operation of the parking brake module is initiated by the parking brake switch. Hope this helps.
