Aljo, it may already be unlocked, did you make sure you pulled the green knob fully out (sideways), before you turned it to release the towbar? RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

Laughing Other than that , all I can suggest is try spraying some WD40 in the lock to make sure the key turns.(once the key is in the right position the damn thing should be able to be released).Good Luck mate. I used to have the same problem with the Disco removable TB........looks easy, especially when the sales guy shows you, but in reality a bag of s*it to action when your in a hurry..........I used to just keep wiggling and pulling out the green thing....eventually it would come off. I'm sure this has been discussed before, over on the Disco3 site.

Aljo have you tried doing a search or asking the question over there?

Other than that I'd suggest a trip to your local stealer. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

aljo,

I had exactly the same problem. I couldn't even get the key in to the lock to begin with. After several applications of WD40 and gently tapping the key with a rubber mallet, I managed to get the key into the lock, but then it wouldn't turn. The key is pretty small and fragile looking, so you have to be gentle.

With more gentle tapping of the key in the lock, tapping the lock itself and more WD40, eventually with some pliers on the key, again gently does it, the key turned CLOCKWISE, about 90 degrees if I remember correctly.

After that the towbar released easily.
Note, after you have turned the key CLOCKWISE (and removed the towbar) it is retained in the lock, presumably so you can't loose it. Very Happy

Yep when I first got min it was jammed so I wiggled it, then wiggled it a bit more still did not budge. so I whacked it, wiggled it and yanked very hard downwards. and out it flew as I had most of my weight on it my hand hit the ground with such force and the weight of the tow bar itself, I broke my thumb!!! mind u it works perfectly now!
