Islamabad, Pakistan..

My cousin came online earlier who lives in Islamabad in Pakistan. The capital which has a very cash rich growing business population.

We know some developers out there, and last time we went in Novemeber, they were all competing to see who could get the latest and best cars into the country out of them, i saw a Bmw 745Li, An X5 3.0d, 2 merc E500's, an E320 petrol and some other less pretigious cars, nissan x trails, Prado's Landcruisers etc. These are all privately purchased and imported cars, and to get these in you have to have some govenment officials in you're pocket..

Last time a family friend was over in August, who is very keen on cars and just exported two mercs from the UK (they have RHD cars there) i took him to the LR showroom to show him my next car (which was arriving the following week). He thought it was fantastic, and said he would consider buying mine off me and importing it in when i was finished with it.

My cousin told me, someone has beaten him to it, and today he drove past a white Range Rover Sport parked up at a new shopping mall unregistered .. you get a lot of diplomats there, but unregistered means its private, so the first has probably touched down in Pakistan, my cousin only knew what it looked like because of all the pics i sent him of our newbie 4x4 day.

Personally i wouldn't bother importing anything other then a toyota landcruiser, with all the technology and computers in these cars, how would you cope with no dealer backup!!? crazy fools.. but its just a showing off game to them and they don't think about that.

Still have offered my RRS to that guy for £42k for export, and reckon we can slash its export and import tax into Pak by taking off the Sport badge and buying a £250 2003 53 plate off DVLA and importing it as a regular 2003 Range Rover, the numpties in customs would hardly know the difference!! ingenious or what.. don't think he will buy it though to be honest.. guessing RR53 PAK would be a good plate for it!! Very Happy Very Happy

thats an excellent plate..
wouldn't have it myself either.. some of our clients have a supermarket chain with PAK in its title and so they try and get as many of these plates as possible.. they have loads of them.. but thats a good one!
