What to do?

Some of you may have seen that my RRS is ill and usually I keep cars until a mayor problem arises (Excluding crashes) The major problem has arisen!

Do I get a new RRS TDV8 and do it up as the offroad beast? or
Get a TDV8, keep it as but do up Mrs VA's D3 as the offroad car? or
Get the TDV8, sell the D3 get a G4 RRS/D3? or
Get a 2nd hand TDV8 do it up? or

Any other ideas?

I don't want to be spending too much money as I have a LRX on order for 2010.

Problems problems! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Don't buy a new TDV8 in this climate VA.... second hand you'll get a bargain. Can you not take all of your offroad bits off of the TDV6 and move them across to the TDV8 or are you going to leave gaping holes... ?

Do you know for sure yet that it is indeed a major issue? Or am i being naive Rolling Eyes

However, back to the question..

I would say second hand V8 and do up the D3.

I got my extended warranty letter last week but the cost for one year was frightening. Think I'll trust to good luck (and the fact my step son runs a garage). Neutral Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

It's something to do with the drive (Gears, clutch or Diff) I'm just a little worried now. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

How many miles VA?

All your options involve spending lots of your British Pounds. Why not just get her fixed and carry on as normal. All women need a bit of an overhaul sometimes......

Give LR a hard time and let's hope they fix the problem and help with those Pounds which right now are better in your pocket then giving them away for a new toy....(even if you do want one badly!!)

Cheers

Salesman hat on..........................

Get 'old faithful' repaired and keep as the off-roader, and go for a TDV8 in this years colour with the options you like, and a 3-year warranty! Wink Whistle

(and then tell Tim in Scotland what you've bought Mr. Green )

James Thumbs Up

Yep...about £1100 Shocked . Nearly dropped the letter and passed out so burnt it quick before it did me harm hence can't remember the totally accurate price. Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

Since you've been trying to get LR to fix the 'shunt' while you were still in warranty, could you argue that this is related and so should still be covered?

is there a cut of point with the extended warranty or a small period of either side to take the cover out?

If there is and the repair bill is of simular size to the warranty, (and the warranty covers the repair) I would go with the warranty and keep the car another year.

If its a case of not been covered, you would have to repair it to sell it or the garage would give you a worst trade in value etc

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

VA, my fourpenneth, get your self a decent Defender. Perhaps one already with all the offroad toys added (front & rear winch, roll cage, diff locks, rock sliders, jungle trekkers, etc etc). You could pick up a decent one of those for around £8k, a bit more for a very well preped and cared for example. Try the Devon 4x4 website where there is a forum including vehicles for sale.

Then pay £40k and get a second hand RRS TDv8.

You now have a great toy for the weekend. One you can take offroad without worrying about damage (character building) or breakdowns (cheap to fix and you can still drive to work the next day) and very low depreciation. Maybe something like this one http://www.devon4x4.com/forum/index.php/topic,4512.0.html

And you also have one of the finest Land Rovers ever built (RRS TDv8) and can keep her in her prime.

You know it makes sense.

Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
