Anybody got a recommendation for hotels in Dublin City Center

I normally stay at Jurys Christchurch, but its full on the Saturday they are going on

Wanting city center, near Temple Bar area for my parents first visit to the great city I'm paying for as a birthday present

Anybody stayed at "the Clarence" owned by Bono? as thats a option thats available

Clarence is nice - also try The Morgan right in middle of Temple Bar - very contemporary though, so make sure parents like it....

I find with Dublin some of the hotels can be a little out of the way or run down and when they have never been before trying to keep it simple for them with not too much walking

Recommended the normal things like open top bus and Guinness Factory tour, and Kilmarnock Gail tour

Can anybody think of anything else, they will have 2 1/2 days so can't go too far a field

The Marriot Shelbourne in St Stephens Green is very good, nice 5* hotel with charm rather than glitz, got a good bar too Stayed there a few times over the years and if the wife likes it, so must be good.... Brit across the Pond

Clontarf castle was undergoing a huge refurb when i stayed there this time last year which i believe is now complete...even then it was excellent. Its a short way away from the city centre in a leafy suburb. Short taxi from airport and shorter taxi into the city.

Stayed at The Westin earlier this year. Bang centre of Dublin - very good. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

2 1/2 days is a long long time in Dublin - it's a small city - venture out to Black Rock etc and it's a welcome break from the city - bus tour is a good idea - along with the paddy jokes along the way....

Just stumbled upon the following website, (which i didn't think did hotels)

Its so much easier than going to all the different sites to find hotels as some say they are full and others have rooms and the prices change too

I prefer the Fitzwilliam, right on St. Stephens Green

the Fitzwilliam is on the list for them to choose from

It gets good reviews on tripadviser
