Kaine,
Actually it made me laugh...they guy was really nice about it but explained that as with any modification such as bigger wheels, exhausts even tinting glass can affect the contract of insurance.
In effect I'm increasing the insurance company's risk if I chip my car, which is a fair point.

I suspect I am being overly cautious but I have had first hand experience of an insurance company trying to wriggle out of a claim a few years back. It took me 6 months and the Insurance Ombudsman to get my claim paid so really I'm not prepared to go through that hell again!
Incidentally rrsjo why are you waiting to the end of your warranty before chipping your car?

Because if the engine, gearbox, transfer box, diffs, axles etc develop a fault, they will not be covered by the LR three year warranty. Anyway, by the three years have expired I will probably have to take the RRS to be recycled and turned into a Toyota Prius. I wonder if anyone has chipped a Prius yet. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.
