Nick - there are never guarantees...... If costs are involved then I think a better way to do this is to ask for a non-refundable deposit which I'm more than happy to do..

Thanks Kaine, that’s really good of you. I thought about this, but didn’t really want to ask people to send any cash for something so far in advance. I'm just going to hope for the best...............

Mrs Rupert & myself fully intend on attending the event in London & are quite looking forward to the road trip over from Ireland Thumbs Up

However, as Kaine rightly says, things often get in the way of best laid plans & there are no guarantees.

However Nick, I think I can speak for us all, by saying that we really appreciate the efforts you are putting in to organise this event. I hadn’t realised that you had to put forward your CC & offer personal outlay to secure bookings at the Ace Cafe and / or other venues.

So as suggested by Kaine I would have no problem whatsoever, in paying a non-refundable deposit to help cover your costs & outlay. If I was planning to fly to London for the weekend, I would have pay upfront for airline tickets, with no refund possible if cancelled. So helping you cover your personal outlay is the least I can do.

So if you decide to go down that route, just let me know.

Thanks again for your work in helping organise the event Thumbs Up

Likewise for me, Nick - couldn't make last weekend as I was 2,300 miles away in the Atlantic. However, I am in UK in Ausust, so I do intend being there for Ace Cafe event. If you need some money up front as a deposit, then just say the word. Smile
BTW- money for side repeaters is on its way.

No worries...

Yes still up for the curry on the Saturday night - we are going to an excellent contemporary Indian open kitchen restaurant in Hounslow - good thing is too, we can bring our own drinks! For those of you who want to drink we can car share - i don't drink, so happy to take anyone who wants to come - and then other stuff planned afterwards.....

Guys,

Re the London meet - and taking deposits - there is no need for anyone to pay if they don't want to - but if people want to then thats great. Enough of you have confirmed your attendance - and even if we have a few dropouts - we're still going to be fine on numbers.

If any of you want to make a deposit against Lunch - £25 should be fine, and please PM for details. But please, don't feel you have to - it's purely optional - and if you do, the gesture is much appreciated.

Thanks
