It's all subjective - they are noisier on road, but not so bad it'd make you want to drive a Niva! |

Interested to see Lex, you are a fellow Aussie based RRS owner. Have been quoted for the same tyre here and would be keen to know how you think the car performs off-road with them - do they rub at all? what did you do with the spare?

I'm actually running these tyres on a vogue tdv8. But the 19 inch RRS wheels fit over the Brembo brakes--just.I got the wheels cheaply as the tyre dealer had some second hand stock. The tyres are very expensive at a rrp of around $600.0 each for 255/55 19.But I've tried a couple of Cooper patterns in 20 inch and the tyres are much too big. So if you want a good heavy duty tyre in 19 inch wheel size; the Goodyear mtr is the only one I can find. I havn't had a chance to get off the bitumen yet but I'm sure that they will perform very well. They are exactly the same size as a 250/50 20 so fit and speedo are not compromised;also very heavily constructed so stones/rocks should not be an issue offroad. Just too noisy/rough for long term on road use.

DMP i see from the D3 site you are off on an adventure with the RRS, have you worked out the modification costs. i had a good offer for tracks and rails from Roof Rack City on the Pacific Highway, and might be worth dropping a note to Rangie about the best dual battery system and fridge for the Sport, he has moved to a Pajero just recently, but had a highly adapted Sport for a few years geared for the off-road, he can normally be found here http://forum.australia4wd.com/ under the same name.

Yes, it's quite expensive ![]() Considering buying some items like the dual battery system and hiring others eg a camper trailer to keep costs down. Getting the right tyres will probably be the biggest outlay. ![]() |

Further thought, with the MTR's - how is the ground clearance? Does the vehicle height get increased, this would be useful off road.

I'm pretty sure that the diameter of mtr 255/55 19 is just about the same as 255/50 20 as fitted standard give or take a millimetre. |

Dunno about over in Australia but here the car comes standard with 275/45/20" = dia 756mm. The MT/R is 255/55/19" = dia 763mm so 7mm or 0.93% diffrence.

Anyone know if the 19" inch MT/R rim and tyre combo can be changed in the bush using a tyre repair kit, levers etc?
