I was told by the BMW stealer I was talking to that the reason they don't do a V10 X5 is because the 'performance' engine is designed to rev a lot higher higher, and thus provides lower torque figures than one expects from these type of vehicles. Particularly when a lot are used as towing vehicles... I'm not an engineer, so please no flames, just passing on the comments I was given! That would maybe be the same for RR if they were looking at one of these types of engines already around the place. |

That's true we have seen pics of the new 5.0 V8 - hardly the most tree hugging of engines. There will always be people who are happy to pay the extra potential taxes attracted by big petrol engines, simply because they want a big petrol engine... |
