There is plenty more scope for more torque to be put on the map on any diesel. All manufuctures lay out a perimeters for tuners to work within as long as you stick below their thresold there will be no harm to the engine. Yes you may get engine wear a tiny bit more but it just means you have to service and look after your car a bit more like any engine that is working harder. It just means you have to be aware of your oil levels maybe a month before you normally check. But harm to the engine I haven't heard of it! Remember remapping is making the engine drive like it should, smoother gear changes, less lagg at the bottom end and more importantly to acheive a fuel save, less revs = fuel save.

@bellautos The TDV6 RRS 6-speed auto box does NOT have a maximum torque capacity of 472 Nm input. I have explained all this in a long post elsewhere which I can't be bothered to look for.Suffice it to say the TDV6 has the First Generation 6HP 26 box, or at best the hybrid 6HP 26A box, both of which are rated at 600Nm input. It does not have the 6HP 32, much less the 6HP32 A rated at 750 and 770 Nm respectively. Neither does the TdV8 which produces an LR stated figure of 640Nm so LR must think there is a very considerable safety margin

I guess its not the engine or even gear box that comes under the biggest extra stress following a remap. Its probably the Turbo unit.

I spoke to a Ford Engine Development specialist about this a few months ago. He (perhaps not surprisingly) was very negative about remaps. He explained how Ford use millions of pounds worth of specialist equipment and 1,000's of highly qualified man hours to develop the "optimum" tune to play on an engine. As he sees it, someone with nothing more than a PC comes along and alters the program and then claims to have achieved something better than the original team achieved. And when asked if a remap might create problems, he said it was quite possible that the wear and tear on the Turbo Charger would increase substantially as the remap would be asking that unit to spin faster and longer than the original state of tune.

Now I can easily see how Ford tuners build in good margins for error in their set ups, so as to reduce the risk of big warranty claims and enhance longevity, so a retuner is simply eating into this margin for error to squeeze more go from the same unit.

As such, my policy is to respect the retuned unit, and take particular care of the Turbo by allowing cooling down and slowing down time before switching off the engine and only using the best oil, always at the right level and changed every 7,500 miles. Results are all around. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Smarticus is totally correct. If there is to be a weak link it will be the turbo and S's 30sec wind-down after a blast before switching off is a very good practise. Also slavish adherence to oil-change/top up. I won't recommend a make of oil other than to say I have always used Motul oils in my race and road cars, even when sponsored by Shell!! That could be the start of a new thread

My car responded great aswell ,very happy with the extra Hp ..it feels like over 40 HP more....do not know about the real figures.....definately a great choise!!

The last car that had the exact same software revision as your car i had on a Dyno Dynamics dyno made 42bhp and 88nm only 4 or so weeks agao. "Yes more is possibile , but as you feel no more is needed"

These are the figures id expect you to get considering your car is the exact same revision.
How is the speed limiter going ? Did i hit the speed demod on the head with this one ?

hey Pete,still not know about the speed limiter as the max speed allowed by the government is 80 km/h and on the highway 120 km/h... still could not pick a decent highway without cameras to check..will let you know!
