England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
WANTED - RRSPORT

Hi all.

Bought the wife a Discovery3 and was well impressed. Even took it to Yarwell with Disco3.com guys much to my wife's disgust.

My car, 2005 BMW 730d Sport, now due for a change so have decided to put a pair of 4x4's on the drive.

Looking for TDV8 Black with beige leather. Got to be 2007 registered but prefer MY08. 20" wheels ideal but would prefer 22" and looking to have SC grill and vents.

Couple of questions if I may ask Smile

1/ Are 22" put on as an OEM and if they are on does it affect warranty.
2/ Do 22" seriously affect ride quality.
3/ The kids want Television - Is the "Hybrid" TV only visable in the front - does it work while the car is moving
4/ Are rear monitors only in the headrests or can you get a single screen in the middle.

Also why do you think there are so many RRS at independent dealers and should I be wary of these. Main dealer cars tend to be bereft of extras.

Alternative to RRS is a S Mercedes and I'm sure I'm far too young for one of these.

Regards

Hey Salop,

I just got 22'' Stormers yesterday to my RRS - and the ride is very slightly firmer - nothing to worry about.

You do hear about warranty being affected - but then again stealers will try and get out of anything they can! I was at Sratstones at Wooburn Green and they had 3 new cars with 22'' wheels on them!

You can't get 22 wheels as OEM, but there are a few places out there who sell them - and one I can reccomend who will take your wheels in PX too....

TV can be changed to work on the move but signal isn"t always great - you can get a ceiling mounted DVD player that sits centrally for rear viewers...

Inde dealers are fine as long as you have warranty you shouldn't have much to worry about - just get low miles as you can

Re: WANTED - RRSPORT

Some answers:

1/ Are 22" put on as an OEM and if they are on does it affect warranty. NO and YES

2/ Do 22" seriously affect ride quality. YES, and you won't get very far offroad with them as well!

3/ The kids want Television - Is the "Hybrid" TV only visable in the front - does it work while the car is moving
Go for a car that has RSE and Hybrid - RSE has head restraint screens. Yes it works as the car is moving but not on the front screen without a modification......................

4/ Are rear monitors only in the headrests or can you get a single screen in the middle. - you can have a drop down screen on earlier cars which won't have the hybrid TV, might be better to go to an aftermarket specialist if you want that. Newer cars have the head restraint screen AFAIK

Also why do you think there are so many RRS at independent dealers and should I be wary of these. Main dealer cars tend to be bereft of extras. - Coz they are selling like hotcakes and independants want a bit of the action. And I would be very wary, the earliest cars are about to fall out of their 3 years LR warranty and they do have problems with some cars (not that many). If you buy from an independent insist that he takes it along to a franchised service outlet for a full service before you take it, that way you will also get all the proper attention that a Land Rover needs and all the most recent upgrades to the electronic systems. There won't be that many TDv8's at independents though, it's still too new (oldest will be 12-15months old now)

Alternative to RRS is a S Mercedes and I'm sure I'm far too young for one of these. DOES THAT MAKE YOU TOO OLD FOR AN X3/5 THEN? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks

Hi all

Thanks for your tips as they are all really helpful especially with regard to the wheels. Its a Company Car buy so I've got to be wary of jeopordising the warranty

I just knew Boolia would respond as I'd seen that car on here and on Pistonheads. Its a lovely car and very nearly hits the spot but then doesn't - sorry.

Tim - X3/5 - I just couldnt - I've had 4 BMW's on the trot now and I just couldn't face looking at the same facia anymore. We thought about the X5 for my wife but she opted for the Discovery 3 instead. I think she made a good choice except as hard as we try we cant get more than 24 mpg. Her Td5 Discovery got more than that!

Any further tips would be appreciated

Kind regards

Paul

England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Hi again

Thanks Mick - but I've got to swap out in MArch / APril and probably thro' a dealer to get rid of the BM.and thanks Kam but I've already been advised of that one thro a PM.

Dealers and independents seem my best route but the advice received so far has helped my decision process regarding wheels and tv.

Kind regards

Paul

Oh Dear

RRS Wanted really was the wrong title for this wasnt it - It should have been RRS advice.

For a car that I want I really didnt think on here I'd have quite so many offered. Sorry if this was the inference. However it's a bit worrying that sooooo many are being offered.

hey ho.

Paul
