Apologies for opening an old thread but I had the same question heading into my first service next month. My previous rear wheel drive car was recommended (needed!) to rotate the wheels every 5,000 km's to get even wear, and this is my first 4x4!

The chap on the Dealer service desk said that rotation was part of the service and they would also check alignment and tyre pressure at the same time.

I would let the dealer do the job then, you'll be paying for it in the cost of the service anyway so why bother doing it yourself.................................. unless you don't trust the dealer to do the job of course 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I intend to let them do it - i have free servicing fro the first 3 years, so do not expect to have to pay for this... I guess we'll see what comes out of the service on 4th April.

As well as putting copperslip (which I notice that the servicing garage have done at the last 2 services that I had done on the TDv6) on the nuts I smear a thin layer of grease onto the hub where the alloy comes into contact with it. This seems to help stopping the alloy wheel from corroding onto the hub as well as the copperslip stopping the wheel nuts from corroding onto the studs. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

when the studs came out they were nicely copperslipped too, infact I had watched the tech do the job at the car's last service. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh
