Please help me make a decision on wheels. Really confused...

Gents,

I really need your advice on making a decision on some wheels for my wife’s RRS as I am in a bit of a dilemma.

First off, I bought this car for my wife and kids, and it is used as our family car. Their safety is of paramount importance to me.

I want to change the standard 19” wheels for 20” or 22” wheels. In an ideal world, I would buy a set of Overfinch 22” wheels, but I think the cost is rather high on them.

The options as I see them are:

1. Go for a set of 22” Overfinch replicas. I have done some research, and they are all of far eastern origin. Dealers tell me that they have correct load certificates and that they have sold numerous wheels without any safety issues. My main concern is that these could crack whilst driving?

2. 22” Stormer replicas. R-Tec have told me that they do a German made replica that should conform to all local standards. I assume it is TUV approved and should be safe?

3. I buy a genuine set of 20” SC wheels. Didn’t a member on here have a problem with several sets cracking?

4. Other wheels: Rinspeed, RH etc. I am less inclined towards these as I want to retain an OEM/RR Tuner look.

I just cannot make up my mind. Please let me have your thoughts on these options, or any others that I may have overlooked.

Thanks in advance.

Alternatively....20" Stormers provide a more OEM look as well, if slightly rarer than the stock SC 20s.

If safety is primary concern then you have to go with a true LandRover product as opposed to a replica product in my opinion, as VA also points out.

Being in the market for a RRS in the coming weeks I to am also debating wheels. I love both Overfinch variaties and agree they are unfortunately very expensive Big Cry . A supercharged RRS i am currently considering has overfinch replicas, they look fantastic and I doubt any one would tell that they are replicas. However knowing I would be riding on replicas would probably stop me giving the car the beans for fear of them not being able to cope.

Option 3!

Minefield , i have replica overfinch and have had no problems , what i will say tho is that i still have a set of 20 " supercharge wheels and that the composition of them are c Censored p . So in my opinion they are not the greatest alloys anyway.

But in view of the question , if you have a problem with anything other than OE alloys your warranty will be in question.

Ive heard all sorts of issues with alloys . . You pays your monies you take your chance !
