Had a loaner now for nearly a week i could not imagine how different it drives and handle to the Sport.



To get the beast moving seems a whole lot harder, not sure of the stats (to lazy to look), but it does not seem as quick pulling away (even when you give it a whole lot more wellie,) and when slowing down for turns, roundabouts etc, its seems to have a continual flat spot, the vehicle is a demo i reckon, with less than 1600 k's on the clock so may be a bit tight still. Perhaps its the extra 50 Kilos it has to carry makes a difference

Suspension, seems softer, most probably based for more off-road than tarmac pursuit as the sport, and did not seem as sure footed through the turns and generally wallowed a whole lot more than the sport on some of the not so great outer Sydney roads.

Interior, not the sports seats, personally i did not find them as comfortable after driving around most the day.. the seats seems broader but not as supportive, but still ok.

all round not a bad motor to be honest, but i will gladly get back in the sport next week irrespective of all the hassle so far  Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

D3 is a whole lot higher with more weight higher up than an RRS which will make a difference, but as you say it is set-up with less sporting suspension than the RRS, I too have driven a few and found them wallowy (just like my FFRR in fact) and D3 would benefit a lot from having Dynamic Suspension like the TDv8 and now fitted on the FFRR as well. Comparing the TDv6 and Tdv8's roadholding though is also apples and pears - the TDv8 feels much more planted to the road and corners almost flat whereas the Tdv6 was a notice bit more rolly in corners taken quickly.
At long last I have also found a car that my father also enjoys driving - he liked the TDv6 a lot but to quote "Your new car is in a different league to any of your other Land Rovers, it is so much more fun to drive" This from the man who thinks 56mph is fast and who I caught driving me up the motorway at 95mph when he collected me from the airport last Monday night in the TDv8...........  2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

i must admit, i had a tdv6 disco as a loaner car and the ride and suspension was much softer, to be quite honest i really liked it, the wife said it looked like a ice cream van and she can imagine a guy selling ice cream cones from the back.

Totally agree - had a D3 TDV6 before RRS TDV8 and the two are chalk and cheese. The RRS corners "flat" and the D3 wallops round the corners, much less fun.

Have not had the RRS off road yet asides from some bumpy firetrails so cannot comment vs the D3 which was as sure footed as a mountain goat!

A loaner RRS is a must - if it exists.
