Help needed with removable Towbar problem

I purchased my removable towbar online recently and tried to use it at the weekend for the first time but could't get it to slide fully in place

When I tried to fit it, I discovered that the pin would not fully retract into the body when turning the green handle. I thought it may have something to do with the key positioning but have tried various ways with no luck. It is as if the green handle to turn in the pin needs to turn another 10 degrees or so to get the last cm of the pin to retract, but it won't travel any further.

Any help appreciated

I have one of these too, if I remember (I haven't used it for 3 months) Pull the green handle out (ie to the right holding the hook towards you) and turn it down when you reach the end of the springiness. I had several problems with the same type of hook on my last RRS and found that it needed the occasional spray with WD40. On one occassion it would not fall out of the slot even with the locking mechanism disengaged................ had to put my trailer back on the hook and get somebody to help by turning the height adjuster for the jockey wheel while I turned the lock! It did eventaully come out but it was hard work. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
