United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
I've been DMS'd

Just had my TDV8 re-mapped by those wonderful chaps from DMS. With a grin on his face the engineer said you'll be very pleased with this. 328 bhp and loads of torque. Just been to give it a whirl and all I can say is OMG he's right! Pulls like an absolute train, non stop acceleration, soundtrack to match. On my earlier post someone said that I would maybe be the first on the forum to use DMS, however they told me that they are currently re-mapping 3-5 TDV8 models a week (obviously not rrsport forum members) and also TDV6 models. All work done via the obd port, they guarantee that should there be any warranty issues they will cover it. That is my main reason for using DMS (they previously did my X5 and 535d) and they state that re-map is undetectable by main dealers. I did over 70,000 miles in the X5 and 535d (combined) and main BMW dealer never detected that DMS worked on them. Never had a single problem with either vehicle. Lets hope the TDV8 is the same.

While the remap may not be detectable by the dealers, I recall hearing that there is an issue when your car is in for service & they plug in their computer to your car.

IIRC what happens is that when they upload any updates or the like to the car, the ECU remap is overwritten returning the car to the way it was prior to the remap.

Thereby necessitating the remap to be done again, every time after the car comes back from the dealer when they upload updates.

I also think that on a regular service the car gets hooked up to the computer as a matter of course, again overwriting the remap.

Now I could be wrong on this…….I’ve been known to be wrong before Whistle

Just something that’s in the back of my mind. Perhaps someone else will be able to confirm or otherwise.

Sounds good

Mate can you let me have their number and whereabouts are they based? To tell the truth, I am close to getting at TDV8 but the incidents with the knocking sounds etc deter me. And i have a beautiful TDV6 HSE which rides perfectly and would prefer just to get this done with DMS. Don't get me wrong I've just come from a 5.0 V8 and love a big pull to a car, but I was pleasantly surprised by the TDV6 and would like to try DMS first.

thanks

They are well known in remapping porkers etc (and over the pond) If memory serves me right it was around £1600 + vat for a cayenne turbo. How much was the map from them

A dealer won't overwrite your ECU by default, but certainly it's a possibility if your service work includes various upgrades. Most tuning places offer a reflash service either FOC or for a small charge - I presume DMS are no different. Don't forget, that LR do NOT support the chipping process - even dealers who used to do it onsite (or by subbing the work out to someone else) have been advised to stop. But this is all personal choice... I'm sure if I had a spanky TDV8 on my drive I'd be considering getting it done irrespective of all that.

I did have my X5 re-map overwritten on one occasion when BMW did an uodate whilst it was in for a service. DMS came out and re-installed free of charge. Their re-map for the TDV8 is supposed to be £850 plus vat. However if you talk to them nicely you will be able to negotiate a substantial discount. They did a great deal for me but cannot divulge the exact amount as part of the deal was not to give out the price i paid. Steve if you speak to them they will arrange it for you as they have a presence in Europe, speak to Mike Cooper.

You're presuming a dealer has his head screwed on the right way... Wink

And if the car only gets driven from the car park to the service bay (for standard servicing work), then it's less likely to be noticed I'd say.

Oh I know that !!

I'm not saying that it shouldn't be done Embarassed

It was more a word of caution on my behalf to the OP, that the remap isn't permanent & there could be a case down the road, where he gets his Sport back from the dealer after a service & the remap is overwritten.
