M25 Speed cameras Feb 2008

I have been told by a good source that the speed cameras on the M25 between J10 & J16 which at present only switch on when the variable speed limit is applied will now be on ALL the time and set at 80mph. Be warned. This will happen from 1/2/08. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

You'll be lucky to do anywhere near 80mph at most times during the day on that part of the M25. To be honest - I've not seen any of the telltale flashes from them for several months now. I wonder if they've even been on... Confused

Good info though - thanks mate Thumbs Up

I do j10 to j11 every morning, and see lots of flashes on the other side of the road, so I gues they must be working (do not know if it has actually a film in it, or are they digital??)

Not that i've noticed, more roadworks thats for sure, there was a "stau" (traffic jam) yesterday for over 20km's,
The real reason the roads are a nicer place to drive on is down to education, when you learn to drive over here you have to do a set number of hours driving on a mix of roads and conditions i.e city, country, night etc. But the big difference is instruction on Autobahn driving, keep to the right and only use the other lanes for overtaking, and that is what people do out here. Thats why the derestricted sections work. Can you imagine setting your cruise control to 130mph in UK. Speed Limits! not where I live!

I do think people need infinitely better lane discipline over here. I drive home on a portion of the M3 and the amount of times that lane no.3 is full of cars doing 40mph with absolutely nothing in lane 1 and 2 is ridiculous. It's all blighted with the big artics on their way to Southampton which see fit to overtake each other at 1mph faster, thus chocking up the entire motorway behind them.

These cameras were set to 93mph when the variable speed limit was inactive. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Checked this out with our travel & mobility section and it seems to be true... although they are quoting a start date of the 15/02, not the 1st. Best be safe than sorry I suppose, esp as I'm back down to only 3 points now Thumbs Up

memo

Information from RPU Traffic Management that the company who look after the Variable Speed cameras between Jct 10 - 15 on the M25 on behalf of the Metropolitan police are ACTIVATING the cameras from 15/02/08. The current cameras are analogue and the speed for enforcement is set at 93mph. However the system is changing to Digital and the Commissioner as directed the company to set the cameras at ACPO guidelines, this will be 80mph.
I suggest that any incident you attend and have to use the M25 you put a marker in your PNB with the Icad number as this will no doubt create more work for the Inspector and Sgts to investigate speed complaints and the Icad number will assist us with regards to police purpose. If the incident is not police purpose then YOU will be liable for the offence of Speeding.’

Thumbs Up

If it's anything like this morning on that part of the M25, the cameras will be pretty quiet. 2hrs it took me to get to work!! Evil or Very Mad
