Someone correct me if I am wrong, but cutting off a couple of inches of tailpipe from the rear exhaust box is not going to affect the vehicles warranty - other than if maybe the rear box itself failed, thereby necessitating the complete exhaust to be replaced. Even if this happened LR would have difficulty in attributing the failure to the removal of a few inches of tail pipe.

I don't see that fitting a complete new exhaust system downstream of the cats, such as JE's, would affect the vehicle warranty either. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Hi rrsjo I am sure you are correct this was my personal thought and would rather not cut the pipe if at all possible. If however someone like JE was doing it, I would feel very comfortable with their expertise.

John I had the tail pipes your interested in fitted to my S/C this week... they look awesome, fancied something different then the usual ovals and the twin figure 8 porsche style pipes I loved on my Porsche 996, so I bite the bullet and had them put on my car as a test. They are fantastic!!! Have a look..... Shocked

Hi Slim
They do look awsome and I had that offer. Oh well.
Having said that you have a SC so would be straight out anyway. Still worried about cutting the tail pipes but yours looks so good.

I have fitted the JE/Larini exhaust pipes to two diesels now (TDV6 and TDV8) with absolutely no gripes from any dealer.
I was told as long as I didn't interfere with the CATS or anything forward of them, then this modificatiion would not affect the warranty. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Slim, those look great! So you ordered them from jzejeff on ebay? I'm really thinking about ordering a pair now. Price isn't too bad. What all was involved with getting them fitted to your RRS?

I ordered them from mjlperformance not jzejeff the process of fitting them is pretty much the same though, they must be welded on. The existing tail pipe needs to be cut back to to back box on both sides and the new tailpipe together with a small pipe to connect to the backbox needs to be welded on, you can get it done from any tyre/exhaust place that you trust!! Thumbs Up

Cool, thanks for the info. I put in a bid for a pair on ebay. Can't wait to get them and get them fitted. This will be my first mod to my RRS!

Pity there is 4 inches of snow outside and its pitch black too, so guess i'll hang on to fit them when normal service returns. Will post photo's in due course, but so far very pleased with these.....

OK, snow now gone and exhaust tips fitted. There are some photos in my gallery. Apologies I ain't a great photographer (and I have no idea how you guys remove reg number plate details - so please don't look at that ).

I think they look OK, and are easi peezy to fit (about 2 minutes each). Cost was pretty reasonable, seem to fit securely. Only slight niggles are that they seem to restrict the movement of those hanging weight thingies behind the rear bumper. Not sure if that matters though ....

...oh and by the way, if you are looking at my gallery, that Defender Offroader is STILL FOR SALE. No reasonable offer refused Thumbs Up RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Just wondering if the original exhaust actually vents through the new tips or do they come out as normal?

They look real nice, Smarticus. Mine have still not arrived. Hope I'll get them in another week or so.

to mp3madness: the original exhaust tips come out as normal. There's an opening in the chrome tips. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD
