United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
Landrovers Goodwill Gesture

I have been waiting for a reply from Landrover about a good will gesture due to the constant breakdown of my TDV8 RR Sport . During it's first nine months it spent two months in the garage being repaired. Each time LR Assist replaced it with a hire car so I was always mobile, but not a like for like until recently when I required a 4x4 for a ski trip to Austria.

The first time it broke down I ended up having a hell of a fight with them when the recovery truck damaged two of my tyres (the rip in the sidewall went through the inner threads of the tyre) and denied it Mad , the LR garage that the car was taken to insisted the damage had been done while driving Evil or Very Mad . I was informed if the tyres were changed I would have to pay for them (330 euro each) and on top that I would also be responsible for payment on the replacement car (approx 6/700 Euro) they had give me as my car was to dangerous to drive. The garage started whinging about my car still being there so I was instructed by LR Assist to collect the car as the garage had said it was driveable and the damage was not that bad Shocked . I collected the car under protest and took it directly to two independant tyre specialists who informed me that the vehicle should not be driven and it was an accident waiting to happen. It was eventually sorted out, but only after lots of stress and threats of lawyers, unfortunately they still failed to repair my car properly Mad The garage also managed to damage a small part of the interior trim and although promised it would be taken care of it never was. The car has now been sorted and required a new handbuilt wiring loom after the original garage did more harm than good with their initial attempts.

So the long and the short of it is I ended up losing my car for two of it's first nine months. I find myself financially out of pocket between 2/300 quid. I have had to take time off work to get car to garage, pick up replacement vehicle, telephone calls, taxis etc as well as all the crap I endured with the episode above and for all this stress and hassle LR think they are doing me a favour by offering 50% off my first service as a good will gesture Twisted Evil Oh I forgot in brackets they mention this does not include any work over and above the standard service and are happy that the problem has been resolved. Censored

Anyway I am so peed off I'm selling the car and going back to Mercedes. The car is only ten months old with 5 thousand miles on the clock so I wont even require the service Crying or Very sad . I find the offer an insult and refuse to waste anymore time on it as I end up getting stressed.

Sorry to hear this Tony - it sounds like you've been very badly treated. In my opinion, you should be naming the dealers concerned for the good of the forum Evil or Very Mad

Luckily for yourseves it would not make much distance as I work and live in Germany. When the car broke down for the second time I told LR Assist that under no circumstances should my car be taken back to the original garage and funny old thing they said the garage did not appear on their list.

Now I'm going to sell it, people will read the problems I have had and possibly stay clear so I would just like to make it clear the car has been returned to as new condition with the added bonus of a low mileage due to not a lot of use. Any Idea how much to ask for it?

It'll need a service in a couple of months regardless of mileage (12000 miles or a year, whichever comes first) - but I reckon 37k would be a good price. Not sure how that would translate on the German market?

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I had problems with my new TDV6 some cosmetic and a noise from the rear suspension. They agreed to swap the car so I got a new car after 6 months of ownership. I actual took to opportunity to pay more and get the TDV8 on an 07 plate as oppose to the 56 I had.

Very ahppy with the way they helped in the end although it took some discussion. Dont forget these are expensive cars I dont accept any problems when you are paying this much for something.

I change my car every year and will remain in Germany for the next four years and it was my intention to renew the TDV8 each year. This could of been confirmed by the lady I placed my order with if LR had bothered their arse to investigate. So an offer of a hundred quid or however much 50% of a 1st service costs against two hundred grands worth of sales over the next four years must of been a difficult decision Shocked

I'm getting stressed again, must keep calm, must keep calm Smile
